Hey guys,

I've owned my MBP 2011 13" edition for around 3 weeks now, and the battery life has been pretty impressive.

But I'm slightly concerned at the rate at which the battery is being 'depleted'. It has 18 load cycles according to coconutBattery and it's battery capacity is at 97% (i.e. 5640/5770 mAh) just after usage for 3 weeks.

Not sure if this rate of 'depletion' is supposed to be normal. Help please? :)

*edit: Another discovery, watching movie (the movie lasts around 116 minutes or so) on a streaming site causes the battery to last barely 1.5 hours, which was the trigger of this worry.

It fluctuates.
And flash sucks on Linux and Mac OSes. Hence the battery life drain.
Consider streaming the video in HTML5.

Any alternatives for UTorrent? The Mac version does not include funtions like "auto quit when downloads complete".

google youtube html5
but it doesn't make much of a diff, the cpu usage is still the same.

I have to add, though. I have been using YouTube HTML5 for some time now. While I have noticed that my Macbook doesn't fire up its fans that often with the Safari plug-in, it does take significantly longer to load a YouTube video with the plug-in, if it loads at all. I realized that if I revert back to the original player, it actually loads faster.

You're somewhat right I guess. For myself, I find that all forms of video streaming sucks up CPU power very quickly, even a low-res live football stream on sopcast will give me 12-18% CPU usage. Same thing with YouTube HD on 1080p.

But viewing movies on the MacBook itself, I can view BluRay rips and the CPU usage will never shoot beyond 10% most of the time. Guess it is all down to bad coding for video streaming.

BTW, anyone tried gaming on the 2011 MacBooks yet? How is the CPU usage and peak temperature like? :s13:

WTF? Only angry birds and the temp is 80C?
How about more hardcore games like CoD or Assassins Creed?

correction....around 74C , but with some apps closed probably down to 70C
my mac can't run AC or any graphics intensive games so i don't expect to buy some games in near future

Why not just use utorrent, then set the seed ratio to 10% auto stop. Anyway utorrent does not eat resources so jus keep it in the background.
