things to note:

1. do you wait for the monitor to display the desktop first before closing the lid?
2. you can't run closed-lid mode running ur macbook on battery. it has to be plugged in.
3. also if i'm not wrong, closed lid mode with external moniter only works with USB or BLUETOOTH keyboard/mouse. I don't think the logitech unified receiver works because the pairing is done using their software and when the macbook sleeps, the process for the pairing probably sleeps too.

solutions i can think of is to wake up the macbook in closed-lid mode with a usb or bluetooth device or the apple remote. or set your macbook to not sleep when u close the lid

bootup slowdown

after i install win7 on my mbp, bootup kinda slowed down. anyone know how to fix

windows plague has infected and slowing down your machine
probably something to do with fragmentation

Do you mean Boot Camp to run Windows on startup?

My Win7 startup is rather slow which i believe its searching for the partition based on the "flashing dash" on the screen. Once Windows logo appears, its pretty darn normal.

In the 1st place, why buy a MBP if you wanna run Windows as a default boot up?

Can anyone advice on how to run an application as Administrator ?
Note : Under System Preferences > Accounts, I am already log in as Admin.

hi guys. i am using adium and i went to preference-account-option to check for new mail. it was working fine. after a while..i realise that my new email notifications prompted me in the background. i suspect it was due to me changing the "event present".

is there anyway to make new email notification prompt in the foreground/on top of other applications? hmmm...

Is the cost very expensive?

Well, if it is the mother board, you are looking at a repair cost of nearly 1000 dollars. Yes, it is very expensive to replace the mother board, and it's really not worth the trouble for the most part.

What app you're trying to run? App that requires special permission should have asked for the admin / privileged user password automatically

you're already running as an administrator if you're logged in as admin.

hi,
im a new mbp owner, hence i have several qns to check with you guys.

i downloaded microsoft office for mac but it says that i am not able to install my software on the hd. a version of the software is not found.

and also how do i find the applications i installed? and if i remove my apps from my dock, where can i go to retireve it?

Did u download the Office?

Bring yr MPB w the problem to Microsoft headquarters located at NTUC building.
They'll help u.

i jus got a vintage imac g4 to play around with and i wish to check how do i do a reformat of the computer? and when i want to update some of the software for the computer, it required the admin password which i do not have, any idea how to overcome tis problem?
and lastly cant seem to find any used pc2700s ram for sale, is it obsolete oready?

If I am not wrong, since the last time I sent anything for servicing was more than a year ago, I think they charge about 60+ dollars for diagnostic fees. Again, if I am not wrong. That is the price they charge on you whether or not they find anything wrong with your Mac.

Look for an application in the Utilities folder called Disk Utility. You can then erase a hard drive from there.

You cannot overcome the password problem. That is why they have the password there in the first place - security reasons.
