What do you mean by network uploading?
Are u referring to accessing the scanned document from the printer on your mac?

How do you usually perform the task?

The multifunction printer cum scanner scans the document and then uploads it to my mbp viay home network using smb

could be smb issue, it happens to my network devices when my mbp changes ip when i switch from lan to wifi or vice versus.

the only option is to restart the mac machine.

did you check ur smb settings on your mac? maybe you turn it off under sharing or your printer was not using smb in the first place, maybe Upnp?

Restarted the machine still no go. The printer/scanner was using smb. Sharing is on and my windoze PC is able to connect to my mac via smb

If you mentioned printing works fine, i can only think of how u used to scan them. Apple have 2 default applications to scan, have u tried using Preview or Image Capture?

nah, my MBP's warranty has expired last Dec. 2013. Thus, I have no other choice but to use the "extended warranty" by Courts wherein they'll refer to to their third-party vendor to check the laptop.

well, on my next Apple product, i'd be sure to get an AppleCare just in case .. ;)

Is your Macbook Pro within the 1 year limited warranty period? if yes, you can still bring it to an Apple Authorised Service Provider. It only mean that you have 2 different warranties overlapping.

Check warranty status @ https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do

If it's still covered under Apple's 1 year limited Warranty, I would recommend you to call AppleCare @ 800-186-1087.

Inform the AppleCare advisor that you have done an erase and install and you are still facing sluggish/performance issue after that.

You also need to point out that you DID NOT restore your data after doing an erase and install because that can only mean that we have not isolated it to hardware fault.

Most likely the AppleCare advisor will get you to bring it in to an AASP for further Hardware diagnostics.

Why I say to call AppleCare first? because if you were to go to an AASP without speaking to Apple, they might want to charge a diagnostic fee if they couldn't find any hardware fault.

But if you were referred by Apple, it's a slightly different story - of course you want to make sure that you gained agreement with the advisor that you should not be charge for anything upon visiting the AASP.

Well in that case, since it's still considered a warranty by Courts, just go ahead and do an erase and install and bring it back to them to diagnose the issue.

They have no reason to say it's a software fault if issue happens after an erase and install.

Most likely the HDD is failing, they should replace it under the warranty at least.

true, true .. that's why I've stated my own view on how they should do the proper troubleshooting .. this is just my point of view, they said that it's the OS because the one that I have is unreliable and that they prefer to use their own (of course, if they use their own, there's a fee) ..
*posted it in LGH thread*

hopefully, this time they'd be able to check my MBP thoroughly..

OS you use is unreliable? they prefer to use their own? hahaha what kinda BS is that? hahaha

There's no such thing as your OS and their OS, it's supposed to be Apple Mac OS X. I would knock them up straight with logic if they try to smoke me with those kinda BS. LOL :s13::s13:

Again, just to make sure they can't fault u for software issue is Erase the HDD totally and perform a new installation, DO NOT restore your data back and test the system. if issue persists, it's a confirmed HW fault.

yep, i did reformat the HDD and no restoration was done .. heck, i even offered them to use my USB OS Mavericks and they said that there's no need (since they paid for their OS) .. *sigh* ..

also, i told them, if you want, I can sit with them and do the installation infront of them for them to see that there really is something wrong with the MBP .. and the person that I talked to said that there's no need.

hopefully, by next week, i'd get a feedback from them ..

I wonder if they even have ACMT certified technicians to properly diagnose a mac computer.

You can try running the Apple Hardware Test. If there are troubles found, all the more we are looking at a hardware fault.

If not, they should be able to run other detailed diagnostics which are not available to end users such as MRI and AST.

1. how to create global hotkey to launch an app from any place? I tried to use Automator to create a service to launch app, and assign a short key to that service, but it only works in Finder...

2. Safari, how to auto-hide Bookmark bar when clicked a bookmark?

3. Any Safari extension to support quick URL access? something like I can assign letter 'g' to Google search, letter '4d' to Singaporepool 4d result page, then I just type 4d in URL and it will auto complete full URL. Chrome has this feature builtin, not sure if it is available in Safari.

1) and 3), consider a app like Quicksilver, but you have to "train" it a bit to recognise what you want.

hello all, i got a new 13" MBA from HK last year and I think I need to get it repaired. No issue since its covered till this year. Thing is, I want to get applecare for it, any other recommended places to get it from apart from the online store?

i know they are pushing to sell APP together with new purchases now instead of the usual buy during last month of coverage. is there any other info i should take note of?

Just a short question, I have a MBP 13" Retina, is it a must to apply screen protector? Will the screen be easily scratched? Its my first macbook so trying to keep it as good condition as possible. :D

probably .. we'll see what will be the result of their diagnostics .. but apparently, from the looks of things (as what they've updated yesterday via LGH thread), they are still saying that it's an OS issue ..

sounds like they don't know how to repair it or are just trying to palm you off..

Hahaha my goodness, i'm curious on their reply, what's the link to this LGH thread? LOL

no matter what computer, be it a mac or windows, isolating Hardware or software is the same. install a fresh OS and nothing else, if issue persists, it's a confirmed HW fault.

for me, i have not used a screen protector on my MBP and it's been good. Reason being it's not a touch screen like our smartphones, that's why i believe a screen protector is not a MUST.

1 - you can call in to applecare hotline @ 800-186-1087, the AppleCare Advisor can process the AppleCare Protection Agreement for you over the phone and it will take effect immediately. Payment by credit card.

2 - as you know, you can buy it from the Apple online store, do remember to register it once you received the APP package.

3 - you can get it from other sources such as Apple Resellers or even online from eBay, prices may be cheaper than option 1 or 2 but no guarantee if it's a scam or not.

Be sure to get the correct APP for your mac product, for example you cannot get APP for iMac if you have a Macbook Air. system will not allow u to register it.

Great, thanks for the helpful response! I will call them up. :) think that will eliminate any issues.

p.s: i can buy it while it's still under warranty right? no such thing as not being able to buy cos I've had it for 6 months right?
