Hi there,

Will be purchasing the new iPhone11 Pro to replace my iPhone Xs.

Can I still use my iTunes on my Mac to backup my iPhones Xs and then use the same iTunes to transfer it to the new iPhone11 Pro ?

Thanks so much

Hi there,

I am using Mac, not using the latest OS, mine is only the macOS High Sierra version 10.13.6.

To use the iTunes to backup the iPhone Xs and then transfer to iPhone11 Pro, do I need to upgrade the OS to the latest ?

Thanks

Just update your Xs Max to iOS 13 and use the new wireless transfer to transfer from Xs to 11.

I just went in to update via iTunes and my iPhone Xs Max said that my version is iOS 12.4.1 and it’s the latest ... why not iOS13 leh ? Izit bcos the my MacOS is High Sierra and only update to iOS 12.4.1 ?

Thanks

I mean when your new phone is here. iOS 13 will be release on 19 September. Then the next day when your new iPhone arrives, you can just do a wireless transfer during setup. No need iTunes anymore.

Unless you plan to sell the phone before you get the iPhone 11.

Oic bro adiBOY, thanks for your info.

Q1:
So for now, my iOS version of 12.4.1 is the latest lah until 19-Sep when Apple release their iOS13 ... ?

Q2:
If i choose not to use the wireless way & prefer the iTunes method, will my iTunes in OS High Sierra be able to update the iOS in my Xs to 13 ?

Q3:
When I receive my new iPhone11 Pro, will it come preloaded with iOS 13 ?

Thanks

Yes you can update through iTunes too but I don’t see a point.

Q3:

Yes definitely.

Thanks adiBOY for your quick and prompt response which is greatly appreciated ...

As for Q2, the reason I prefer iTunes is because the transfer & update is using wired ... last year I had some rare & serious problem until a specialist consultant from Apple have to attend to it ... She finally resolved it by telling me that my problem was because some files were not properly copied over during the over the air update ... she said this was a rare problem problem happened to a very minority of people and said updating thru the wired iTunes method is more stable than over the air method ...

For Q3, I asked because I worry High Sierra cannot update the iOS to iOS13 and thus remain at 12.4.1 and thus my iPhone 11 Pro cannot downgrade from iOS13 to 12.4.1 to receive the backup data ...

Once again thanks for your help and have a great weekend ahead ...

Cheers ...

If didn’t update to iOS13 and remain at 12.4.1, then when restore the new iPhone11 from backup (ie ver 12.4.1), will it work bcos the new iPhone11 is already pre-loaded with iOS13 ?

Thanks
