just a quickly, the performance between a 2.0ghz unibody MB & a 2.4ghz unibody MB is it alot? And 2.0ghz comes without an integrated optical drive means tt i cant burn cds?

400Mhz, imho, no.

And as for the optical drive, I believe all of Apple's current lineup feature the Superdrive, which is a DVD burner.

Edit: I forgot to exclude the MacBook Air. That obviously does not have an optical drive, but that is made quite clear already.

Hey people, any idea what's the price range for Macbook white and Imac at the upcoming IT fair?

And also, If i were to buy a 2nd handed MB White 1/2g ram, how much will it cost to upgrade to 4G with shop installing it for you. Apple.sg offer 230+ for 4G ram.

APPLE price is same even on IT fair, even there's price diff, its only be a tiny margin. the only thing will be freebies, free upgrades or discounted upgrades.

for white MAC is still on DDR2, hence cheaper. around 50 plus?

I was initially torn between MBP and MB....but looking at my 15" acer lappy (a pain in the ass to lug around)...decided to for the 2.4 gHz MB.....

It is cheap though can choose between 2 type 667MHZ vs 800MHZ
667 is the original 2 stick configuration
Choose 2.4GHZ
because Processor are not that readily available while RAM is readily available cheaply

yup. that's correct. mine former 2x1GB for the DDR3 is sitting around. also difficult to resell as used RAM.

hi guys...i got a imation 4gb flash drive which i regularly use with my macbook until one day i accidentally plug out the flash drive without ejecting it properly.....after that one incident....my macbook has been unable to read the flash drive.....it intermittently detect the drive then ejecting it by itself....it just keep on repeating the whole process.....any remedy guys ? thanx in advance...

Is the flash drive still readable on other OS? If yes plug it in and Then safely remove it
Is your Mac still able to read other thumbdrive? If yes then it is ok
After that try again
Mac like all UNIX will refuse to mount drives that are umounted uncleanly

If all else doesn't work reformat thumbdrive

Problem copying file from PC to Mac

I’m a new Mac user and juz received my MBP a couple of days ago. While transferring some files from my old PC to Mac. My Mac would refused to copy the files or even freeze at the copying stage.

This is what happens:
After following the setup wizard to set up my MBP. Without installing any 3rd party application. I updated everything and OS X 10.5.6. Next I tried copying some folders containing .RAR, .dmg, and txt files from my PC to a thumbdrive . Then copy all those folders from my thumbdrive to my home folder in Mac. (It’s a 2GB Thumb drive on FAT file system)

A window pops up saying:
“The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items”.

After clicking “Continue” (it’s the only button) on that popup window. The copying status window show 23.5MB of 1.73GB copied. The status bar juz freezes at that position even after waiting for 15mins. I tried clicking “Stop Copying” but no response. Waited for another 7mins but still nothing happens. I tried to dismount thumb drive but it says the thumb drive is still in use.

I tried to Force Quit but the window shows “Finder” as the only application running. It only have the option to “Relaunch”. Clicked “Relaunch” and it does close the copying process but still can’t dismount thumbdrive. I’ve no choice but to shutdown then restart. This happens three times in a row.

AppleCare technical suggest I format my thumb drive using Mac then try copying the files again. This actually works when I tested by copying one of the folders. But the same issue happens again when I tried copying a second folder.

The weird thing is when I try to copy the same folder of files which I succeeded in copying during the first try. The same problem pop up now!!! What’s happening??

Sometimes when this problem happens, my Mac even refusing to shutdown and I’ve to painfully do a hard power down.

Did any of you experience this issue before? Please offer some advise.

I’ve great hope and confidence before switching to Mac. Knowing that OSX is close to rock stable. But now, I’m starting to get disappointed when such issue happens on a BRAND NEW “MBP” without even installing any 3rd party applications yet?

Please could anyone of the Mac gurus help me?

Could this be a file format issue?
