is it necessary to buy a keyboard protector?

heard that if dust goes in, have to dismantle the whole thing? But what happens if dust goes in?

Is the mbp that fragile?

Anyway, is the mbp aluminum body easily scratched?

i feel no need for kb protector for unibody mac.. however.. invest in invisible shield or bodyguardz.. alu is easily scratched..

Who is playing this game with mac? Does it says javascript is disabled? so the horn does not appear automatically after every 15mins.

I already check the settings, javascript is enabled on both my safari and firefox. But still same problem.

Hi there,

Mac is able to read NTSF but i think if u try to delete stuff from there, it will not work... (not sure abt copying stuff into NTSF). But i know that mac recognises FAT32 file system.. so if your portable HDD or thumbdrive is in that file system, you should be able write, read, copy n delete away stuff from there.. your portable hdd, thumbdrive, CD or DVD can be found on the desktop when the system is running it.. sure, u can just drag n drop the item out to the destination u wanted..


VLC player is one of most commonly used 3rd party video player in mac..

There is a way to allow Mac OSX to write to NTFS, you just have to install a driver for it. http://www.ntfs-3g.org/

I'm using it to write to my Portable HDD which is formatted in NTFS and it works great.

Actually what is the diff between NTFS and FAT??

so far, i plugged my external HDD into both mac and windows and works great. Not sure formatted to which format though.. but should be the normal windows format.

its not the mac.. is the net.. was at my bf house.. he encountered the same problem on windows.. he has mio.. went back home.. no problems.. am on starhub.. not sure if this helps u~

For those on SN, please set the proxy. The Singnet transparent proxy has been horrible the whole of 2009 - I don't know what the sysadmins are doing.

All you really need to do is to set up a new Location, call it "Home", and you can easily switch between locations to turn on/off the proxy.

A quick visual guide:
1) System Preferences -> Network

2) Duplicate the Location, , Name it something useful (eg, "Home")

3) Configure it.

Apply, Ok as needed.


4) To switch locations conveniently:

It is a wireless router. It's just got some features. What makes it popular is simply the size - it's extremely portable, so it's very useful if you do travel. Most hotels have Ethernet ports for internet access, so a portable compact router really helps.

My friend uses it as a mobile charger for his iPod/iPhone - there's a USB port on it.

My Mio wireless router is on the 2nd floor and when im on the ground floor, signals are relatively weak and unstable. Will getting airport express resolve this issue? (Note: I have 2 lines for Singtel, one for home and one for internet - internet line only available on 2nd floor)

If i bring this over to hotels over the world, do i still need to pay for the internet connection or its totally free?

I'd rather you get another router for your home instead... Perhaps go with 802.11n, since the range of that is better.

As for the Airport Express (not Extreme) and going to hotels, it depends on the hotels. Some give complimentary internet access, others have it as a paid option. However, nearly all require an ethernet port, so the AE can help you a bit - at least you won't be tied down to the wall socket.
