1) When you right click an icon or app, some times there are 2 options called "make alias" and "clean up". What do these 2 commands mean?

2) How do you delete cookies stored in safari?

3) Video streaming online are stored in a place in computer, do we need to constantly remove them manually to clean up the hard disk?

Make Alias : make a shortcut.
Clean up selection : Align them to grids so it's not messy.

2.
Menu Bar -> Safari -> Reset Safari.

Unsure, i think they clean up themselves. If they don't just DIY.

Can I use a MBP 13" power adaptor on a MBP 15" and vice-versa?

Thinking of getting a 13" to supplement my 15" but my 15" adaptor like want to break already, so thinking of cutting cost and use the 13" adaptor instead.

Yes you may.

But take note that, your MBP 15" might charge really slowly on a 65W magsafe adapter when on load(when you are using it). When it's asleep/shutted down it charges equally fast.

I advice you get a 85W magsafe for your 15 inch, there'll be no issues on using it on your macbook or macbook air.

I understand your situation. As mentioned, if you are using that 65W on your 15 inch is supposed to take in 85W, it might charge really slowly when you are using.

Is that magsafe under applecare? Perhaps you might want to have it replaced.

Expose - F11 is another mode of Expose which shows desktop. If you'd rather not have them 'peeking out', hold Cmd-option and click your desktop. (Typically the space beside your dock)

MSN - No idea, except I believe Adium supports offline messages. Also, I think Adium and the official MSN clients use different sets of nick. Adium stores your nick locally and updates each time you sign in, IIRC.

Bookmarks - Try XMarks.

Hi, I posted earlier on about my problem.

Discovered that I had another 2 install discs lying around, and I tried booting from Disc 1.

It worked!

Disk Utility -> First Aid, but I can only activate Verify Permissions, which gives -> Error - no package found.

I tried reinstalling, but I can't continue as there was no drive mounted.

Then I quit the set up to reset PRAM.

After resetting PRAM, it won't boot from the Disc 1 again and the same flashing question mark folder shown.

Restart again, holding down SHIFT.

Got a string of words:

panic( cpu 0 caller 0x003AA8F7: Unable to find driver for this platform: "ACPI".
Debugger called: <panic>
Backtrace, Format-Frame: Return Address (4 potential args on stack)
0x14 ( a string of numbers) Backtrace terminated - invalid frame pointer

Kernel Version:
Darwin Kernel version 8.9.3 (string of number and info)

And it asked me to restart.

Restarted, held down D and did hardware test.

No trouble.

Does that mean, my hard disk drive has failed?

If it is, is there any recommended hard disk drive that I can buy and install myself? Information on where to buy and price range would be much appreciated as well, as I need to resolve this urgently for school work and FYP!

Hi,

I was on Win O.S. when the blue screen of death appeared.

On restart, only a flashing folder with question mark appeared.

Tried booting from disk... the disk would self-ejected from the drive after a while.

I've googled for solutions, tried resetting NVRAM and all sorts of key combinations, but still a flashing folder with question mark..

Not under warranty anymore as well.

Question is:

1. Would DiskWarrior work for my case? How much does it cost?

2. How to get my Mac working again? It's only about 2 years old, and I need it for school.

3. Should I buy new HDD and try installing it? How much does it cost and any recommended brands?

Any help and advice would be much appreciated!

I still think it's a logic board problem, based on ACPI and all.

Still, if you think buying a new hard disk is worth a shot, any 2.5" hard disk will do. You can check the HWZ Price Guides. I remember the 320GB 7200rpm to be around $90 and the 500GB 7200rpm to be $170+. The 5400rpm ones are much cheaper.

Most routers support Windows and Mac. There are known troubles with Linksys and Macs but in general any brand should do fine theoretically.

I use an Asus with no problem.

Moshi keyguard is expensive. But come to think of it for mbw users, its a little impractical to put keyboard protector because the computer ventilates from the keys. If you put the protector, condensation will occur if u use it in aircon room...

mbp however does not have this problem leh....

Some cheapskate protector also stick to the keys, not very practical..
