say i have a folder of pictures, when i use preview, i can only view one pic..
where by in fax viewer, i can click on next next next easily..

Cmd-A to select all pictures in the folder, right-click, Open With... Preview.

Well, you could always use Finder too, with thumbnails set to biggest.

Thanks, iseelamepple

Could it be a RAM problem as well?

RP student...

You're welcome! Too bad nobody here is giving a second opinion on your situation so far.

Not likely, because RAM troubles will cause it to have problems even booting up or in some cases, emit the typical PC beeping sound. Also, while the AHT is not really good at its job, managing to load the DVD contents in RAM and running a test seems to prove that the RAM is fine.

Try googling the panic messages to see if anything comes up.

cmd + A -> double click on one of the images, they'll all appear in preview.
or similarly you can choose to drag the images into the sidebar one by one.

Got a string of words:

panic( cpu 0 caller 0x003AA8F7: Unable to find driver for this platform: "ACPI".
Debugger called: <panic>
Backtrace, Format-Frame: Return Address (4 potential args on stack)
0x14 ( a string of numbers) Backtrace terminated - invalid frame pointer

Kernel Version:
Darwin Kernel version 8.9.3 (string of number and info)

I thought I saw this somewhere before,
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=337422

I tried reinstalling, but I can't continue as there was no drive mounted.

I reckon it's your Harddrive since you mentioned about no drive being mounted.

If you are looking for a harddrive you can try the western digital ones...

If there are important files in the HDD, try hooking up and boot it through target disk mode. Should it fail, consider getting a new harddrive, reinstall your Operating System and during the process transfer where it asks if you have an older Mac, connect your Old Harddrive through the USB port and try to retrieve the files.

Set it to list view, in finder, hit the spacebar and use Quicklook. Arrow keys to navigate.

hi I'm new at using my macbook and I have a question. currently, I have windows installed on my mac. whenever I turn my mac on, it automatically starts up in windows mode. I know that pressing the option key after the chimes will allow me to select to start in mac or windows. my question is how to configure my macbook to start up in os mode. :o

System Preferences -> Startup Disk.

Select the OS X partition and reboot.

i think adium's the best, especially given its potential for customisation. plus, it's been very stable for me thus far. given your preference for windows messenger, you would probably want to try out messenger for mac? otherwise, there are others like mercury, aMSN and fire. give them a bash.

Frankly and honestly, if you need to ask where to buy it, you'll be better off paying a few bucks more and get the real thing from Apple. The beauty of Mac is everything just works. However, that often comes with a small print "provided you use genuine accessories." A 3rd party Mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter may not work 100% well with your Mac. Worse, they has little to no re-sale value. :) I did tried a no-brand my friend have for his PC… and the screen was dimmer! Sheesh.

If you really on a budget, get a used one… which I often see on sale over at MUGS.

Cheers.
