whre can i get it leh??

my mbp always getting very hot :s22:

another question. anyone noe where can i get moshi palmguard (the store oso help to apply)

mStand can try the mac shop @ Funan

As for the Moshi palmguard you can try asking ard...

MBP getting hot is normal, if you are getting a stand because your mbp is going hot then you are wasting money. Unless your macbook shuts down during operation, the temps are still within limits.

"non-system disk"

had problems with reinstalling windows 7 on boot camp, had anyone have similar problems and found the solution?

i'm using imac 24" and previously using windows 7 RC.
have updated all imac (snow leopard) software and bootcamp is version 3.0
was reinstalling via bootcamp, and so far this is what i got.

1. win xp sp1 - able to boot and install, but cannot run setup files of win7 from sp1.

2. win xp sp3 - able to run setup files of sp3 from sp1, but blue screen on rebooting. have 2 options on rebooting, either to run xp and go to xp sp1, or to run xp setup and ending in blue screen.

3. tried using usb key as ntfs, but when i used my xp sp3 on laptop and used the diskpart function from cmd.exe, it can only detect laptop hdd as disk 0, cannot detect usb as disk 1, so cannot proceed

4. win7 - got both the downloaded iso from windows, burn into dvd, bootcamp it and have black screen on rebooting with blinking dots.

5. then i found a link somewhere where i downloaded the imac late 2009 win7 drivers followed instructions to install them into a usb thumb drive under ms dos (fat) and mbr. reboot, now say non-system disk. press any key... but i press any key, also no response.

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3173

6. now can only reboot, hold option and go back into mac os. and try to see if got any solutions. i saw some people with very confusing methods via other software, but i have very little expertise (or none) to deal with those and think i may mess up with imac.

anyone can help? i'm contemplating getting the premium version of windows 7, but i'm worried i may still get the same problem and wasting hundreds of dollars just like that....

Questions about format and scanning for malicious software

Hi guys,

Please bear with my questions as I'm a 3 days old Mac user as of this post. So I bought an iMac recently and after 72 hours of tinkering with it, I'm rather impressed by Mac OS X.

However, I do have 2 questions...

i. If I ever need to format my iMac, how do I do it? I have the recovery dvd from apple but there seems to be no bios on the mac from start up to OS X. So how do I go anout formatting a Mac?

ii. Does Mac OS X have an application to scan the computer for any malicious software?

Thanks!

Formatting - Insert the DVD, restart the computer. When the white/gray screen comes up, before the Apple and spinning wheel, hold C to boot the DVD. Or you can hold the option key to see the boot menu. The DVD will show up in a few seconds, or you can press the arrow key to make the DVD spin up immediately.

1. You wouldn't be formatting your mac, because it doesn't slow down as much as a windows. If you think the OS is indeed slowing down. Just fix the permissions with Disk Utility and Onyx and all should be well.

2. Macs don't need a anti-virus as long as you know what you are doing. Just remember this very basic and simple rule :

If you did not click on any installers or updates (.pkg files) and you are prompted for a password because a change in the system files are necessary, just don't enter your password.

Ok. Thanks a lot to those of you who replied to my questions.

Just 1 more question from me, so a lot of malware for Macs have a .pkg extension?

Thanks!

pkg = Installable Package.

There's hardly any malware - if you do get malware in pkgs, chances are those pkgs are illegally obtained.

hey guys would like to ask a qn about apple care
Theres this guy selling applecare with the box, and i think im going to get it from him, but is it reliable? cuz ive read online that down the road if its a genuine custom printed box with fake code they'll just remove the warranty, and that some are actually keygen stuff.

Is there any failsafe way to check that the code is genuine? cuz ive read online that people call apple once they get their codes to verify it before making any payment, so would like to ask if anyone here has bought codes from online, hwz or ebay and experienced this?? What are the things to look out for ( etc content in the box) when getting from such sources??? the guy says can call apple to verify, got the serial number outside on box and the inside which is the registration number. Can trust??

Of course the best bet is to just buy it from apple themselves though.
Thanks for the input guys :)

What is your ext HDD format?
NTFS?
or HFS?

Check this by going to your ext harddisk and right click on it -> Get info.

Under Format : It should read FAT32 or Mac OS Extended to able to transfer files in there.
