no sound

i got my mbp which is mid "10, after i hook up the minidp-hdmi adapter to my led tv, it only display video which is perfect. however the audio is still coming out from my mbp. i saw from the sound in system preference, under output, there is only internal speakers to chose from.

where does the problem lies?

i am using hdmi cable. i got the mini dp-hdmi adapter. it does carry sound.

if you're still asking on where the problem lies, it's between your chair and led tv...

the hdmi cable may be capable of carrying audio signal, but ask yourself does the port that you plug the hdmi cable to, outputs audio signal?..

Any kind soul who is using Late 2008 Aluminium Macbook successfully run on 1 x 4gb ram? Because i don't want to run on 2 x 2gb ram, reason behind is when my macbook spoil, i can still able to transfer the 1 x 4gb to my iMac.

My spec is as follow

Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo
Processor Speed: 2 GHz

The 2010 model mini dp port carries sound, i think the prob is on ur adapter. U can use adapter from Griffin, http://store.apple.com/us/product/TY600VC/A?mco=MTY3ODQ5OTY, not sure though if it's avail in Spore.

I am thinking of buying the new 13.3" Macbook Air to replace my old pink netbook. I was wondering if the default 2GB ram turns out to be insufficient, can I bring it to the shop to add another 2GB ram for a total of 4GB?

It's gonna be my first mac! I am getting Macbook Air for the light weight... can't carry too heavy stuff in my handbag...

No you cannot. Either stick with 2GB or decide that you want to upgrade to 4GB when you are buying.

Hi, I created a resized Fat32 partition in Win7 (bootcamp), using Disk Management tool. The Fat32 partition Drive is ready and assessable in win7. However, when it is in OSX, the resized Fat32 partition is missing, what is shown in my Disk Utility Tool is a huge bootcamp partition. Can anyone please advice and help. Thanks

at S$160 it is worth the upgrade, because you can't do it later.

Well if your everyday usage does not require a 4GB RAM then you don't have to go for it. I've been rocking a 2GB RAM Macbook for more than three years now. Does everything I throw at it.

erm... getting older... need a bigger screen... plus a faster processer...

thou the 11.6's 1.06 kg weight is super tempting cuz I am lugging tons on flights already...

based on yr experience, do you think the 1.83GHz is much of a difference over the 1.4GHz?

4 gig will help you in the long run.

Any time somebody wants to run Photoshop or video editing applications, I'd automatically suggest a Macbook Pro, even if it is the base models of the line. It's not that the MBA can't handle it, of course, since it is still very much a full blown Mac OS. It's just a different experience, I suppose, when you want to cram all of those extra horsepower into that small little 2GB RAM. I think it will still work perfectly for the most part, and a 4GB RAM will definitely help you along.

i used to use a Sony Vaio X. I thought the MBA 11 would look too small, but surprisingly I found it to be very useable.

half a pound off is half a pound not to carry, and the battery life is quite ok.

Faster CPU obviously will hit your battery life, because of CPU and heat (think the fan) but usually the percentage isn't that high to matter, on the new MBAs anyway.

I wouldn't worry about speed, instead consider what you need now, and if you replace it 3 years later, will it hurt your pocket as much as if you paid for a MBA two years ago?

The argument for me was $1488 divided by three years. $500 a year for a stock MBA 11.6, was quite ok for Apple products.

but then I went ahead and bought the 128GB stock model at $1788. Didin't make sense to pay $300 more for an additional 64GB (and I still have 90GB free), but well, I just wanted one quick and Challenger only had the 128GB versions.
