Can i use a Mac to do share trading? THinking of getting an Imac and Macbookpro.
CAn use it out of the box or need to do any modification?

Thanks

share trading depends on your platform. i recommend you try to access your trading account on one of the apple store demo macs to see if it works first

My OCBC securities account works fine in safari (not firefox though). Suggest you try first before taking the plunge

Poems work on firefox on PC, i suppose it works on firefox on Mac? KEtrade uses only IE on PC, so i guess it's not going to work on a MAC.

Seems that MAC does not support POEMS Protrader as well.

Wondering if it works on windows in boot camp. :s11:

i just remembered i have an old poems account which i dont use, so i decided to try a login to see if it works

On firefox, it definitely does NOT work. Got a java machine popup. tried on safari instead

does not seem to work either. The login id/password box disappears when i try to login, but the rest of the page stays the same and nothing else happens

Maybe i am doing something wrong but it appears that poems is not supported at all on the mac

maybe someone here who has a poems account they actually use will know better

All i know for now is that ocbc securities is confirmed to work on safari. there is an iphone app by ocbc securities for mobile trading as well which works quite well too

I should add, all the trading platforms should work fine in bootcamp...but i strongly advise against this option...since you will be in a windows environment most of the time instead of OS X, which totally defeats the purpose of getting a mac in the first place. You would be better off getting a good windows laptop instead

It could be that the trading platforms just have too many Windows-specific requirements. Even though it runs on Firefox on Windows, the platform is still windows, so IE is still installed.

Best solution is to write in to them and pressure them to write proper coded solutions that are platform agnostic.

It's a well-known fact that for too long, people have gotten away with requiring IE installed for their web sites to work. Even government sites are quickly converting away from the IE-only requirement.

Ok actually, im thinking of swapping that out to my 2008 macbook alu unibody, and the existing 160GB from my unibody to the external HDD casing. can swap into the unibody?

if can then before you get on with the swap backup your files i guess.

After the swap?
Format it to HFS+ using disk utility under the Utilities folder in the Applications folder.

Exclude DOA

Repair only ... not 1 to 1 exchange

think no company will do 1 to 1 exchange of computer/laptop.

I tried logging into POEMS, IOCBC and Ketrade with my gf's 5 year old MacBook using firefox........surprisingly the 3 platforms all work .

Funny thing is I thought KEtrade only uses IE . :look:

Printscreen for mac , Command+shift+3 = full screenshot
Command +shift+4, drag your mouse, SS done.

The above information can be found under Help at your top menu bar.
Its very useful. Just make sure the menu bar says Finder if you need help with such stuff.

I learnt some basic and useful stuff via Help.
If you can't find what you want, maybe just visit Apple website on PC -> Mac

In the black piece of 'thing' you'll find two CDs, insert the mac os x one.
Then when in windows, Explore the CD and open up bootcamp folder to install 32 or 64 bit drivers.

Hey guys.
I'm running my fan speed at 5000rpm to cool down my precious.
Will it be detrimental to my fans?
