hi guys. what's the normal operating temp readings for a 13" mbp in a non-aircon environment?

i'm getting readings of 38-44 deg for the enclosure
50 deg for heatsink2
51 deg for heatsink f
52 deg for NB
39 deg for HDD
54 deg for both CPU cores

So i install MacFuse on my windows pc ? is it easy to install and use?

Btw, anyone of you realised that the google.com page is bigger??? is it my safari settings or google just "upsized" its fonts etc?

I think google 'upsized' their fonts or something.. coz this is seen on my office win pc too..

MacFUSE on your Mac. NTFS-3G requires MacFUSE to work... Just install MacFUSE first, then NTFS-3G. Reboot, and you gain read-write access to your NTFS drives for free.

My casing is very hot after a while, but I dunno if by design its like that cos the whole aluminium casing works like a huge heatsink.

No. It's a utility that you have to install, NTFS-3G Mac.

Mac OS Extended (CS, J) is a File System like NTFS, FAT32, UFS, etc.

have you tried using it on your bare lap? I swear I could have gotten a 1st degree burn if I have not shifted it frequently and the fan is blowing directly across it....

Check Activity Monitor to see what's eating up CPU cycles... You'll have an idea of what's really causing problems.

ermm.. im new. i got my macbook pro 13 ytd during comex. ok. whenever i on my mbp. theres a zzzmm sound. den no more. a while only. only when i on. isit normal? cos they need start the mbp? and they told me i got 7days thingy. if spoil can go 1on1 xchange. so i didnt install my snowleopard and i didnt install the word,excel,powerpoint. so shud i wait after 7days den install or can install now? and how do i register my applecare and mbp. although my applecare is preoder haven come to me yet. ps. using my mbp posting dis post

My mac has that sound as well when starting up. No problem with my mac till now. Hoping it's not a defect

My mac has that sound as well when starting up. No problem with my mac till now. Hoping it's not a defect

it is normal all mac starts up with this sound it is actually the sound from you super drive.

it's not spoilt, if you like the sound, you can click disc burning in system profiler.
it makes the exact same sound

Hi, I stored all my photos on my iMac and imported the photos into iPhone. I enabled file sharing in the iMac and connect from my MBP using admin a/c on the iMac.

When I launch iPhoto on the MBP for the first time, I can see all the photos that I have imported into iMac's iPhoto.

How do I disable this and allow MBP to import its own photos without seeing the iPhoto Library on the iMac?

Sounds like your MBP's iPhoto Library points to the copy in your iMac. By right it shouldn't unless you have previously told it to do that.

To revert to its own library, press and hold the Option key and then click to launch iPhoto. You'll then be prompted to choose an existing library or create a new one. Choose the later and save the library in ~/Pictures

am thinking of getting myself a Mac, but wanan check does any of you guys using mac and have UOB kayhian trading acct, can do trading using Mac? and whether can Mac also use the charting software provided by kayhian, thx.

Seriously... why do you have to surrender your PC (to the govn't, is it?) just because you're getting a Mac?

Keep it and *add* a Mac to your Life.

You'll probably need a PC for other things than trading (like use it as a paper-weight, remind you how much you miss viruses, watch your library of video collection etc!)

It's not like you need a COE to buy a Mac, ya know?

Actually, I disagree. I find that regular use prolongs the battery life more than leaving it plugged in. There'll naturally be a balance. The problem with this advise is that we assume people bring their laptops out often enough for the battery to still be used reasonably. This isn't the case for most Singaporeans though - they're more likely to leave their laptops at home and tethered to the power point like a desktop.

The battery is designed to retain 80% of the charge for 300 full charge/discharge cycles. That's good enough for me. If you've used some other laptop brands, they don't even get that kind of stats. I'm at 163 cycles and still 98% battery health.

I totally agree. On my old VAIO, batt life was less than 2hrs w/o power plugged in. Hence, I plugged power in 99% of the time. It lasted just 1.5 years, now the laptop shuts down w/o warning.

Now I am happy that my new MBP can last so much longer, so I can keep it unplugged till the reserve batt warning.
