hey guys, is there anyway i can access my desktop(window) files/folder from my mbp wirelessly?

I've been using TeamViewer to access & control friends' PCs. It's an unbelievably free and fantastic service. Just die die make sure during sign up you pick "Personal / Home" user account and not "Business / Enterprise" account or they'll nag you to pay.

any good free softwares for mac to convert videos?

Handbrake for DVD and QuickTime supported media files.

MPEG Streamclip if you're an expert user.

Both are free and better than many share/commercial ware!

You can disable this new feature of Snow Leopard.

Mail.app -> Preferences -> Accounts -> Select the account -> Mailbox Behaviors -> Untick "Show notes in Inbox"

Your Notes will then show up by itself in Mail, just like it did in Leopard. It's a strange new feature.

thanks bluemint... i did check in preferences (primarily at the general and viewing tab) didn't occur to me to check in the account tab... go figure... many thanks...

everyone. i got a problem. sometime i can hear my mbp making a sound. as in "deng" but theres nothing wrong! it works veyr find. only msn and firefox running. or sometime theres nth running but there is still a "deng" sound. and its quite consistent. like a few it "deng" once.

i'm a new mac user (just got my very first mbp!) i was wondering how often mac users get beachballing and have to force quit a program? i have to force quit applications about once a day but i'm not sure if i'm being too anxious over nothing..

Feels like something is wrong. Try clearing all your caches. Might want to run Onyx for a bit

hi guys would like to ask if its normal for the mbp keyboard to wear out? ive just bought it for less than 3 mths , then now the spacebar button has this different shade of black where i always press the spacebar button. have heard of this wearing problem but didn't expect it to come so fast, especially when iseldom type reports or anything

try to use a keyboard protector like the Moshi clearguard else the black keys will soon turn shinny i don't have such problem as i use the keyboard protector since day 1 when i got my MBP.

hmm ive got the keyboard protector though, but i just removed it for a few weeks as i felt it was overheating. well, now it seems like many of my keys are so shiny, wonder if can go eserve or anything to remedy it??

btw what other thing will wear out? trackpad, place where we put our wrists on ??

i have all that area protected as well.i dun think so they will change the keys for you as it is just "cosmetic" issue.

i just bought an entry level 13" mbp, and might wanna do some light gaming like wc3 and cod4 and stuff like that.
do you think the graphic card is good enough? or do i need to upgrade it?

also, i've read quite a lot about compatibility issues for games. if there's a thread, could anyone direct me to comparison between vmware fusion, parallels and bootcamp? bootcamp is my last resort as i heard it's quite of a hassle to start off with.

do take note that i'm only a student and would of course prefer a lower budget, so no elite hoots for me please...

WC3 does not support mac.

You have to install a genuine version of windows into mac through bootcamp if you want to play it. Graphics wise its still manageable but you may need a bigger ram.

Both vmfusion and parallels allow you to run mac and windows without restarting and includes some minor functions each individually. Search on the web to get a bigger picture.

Anyway, WC3 is not light gaming, its intensive.

Actually, WC3 has the Mac version on the disc itself, as with other games by Blizzard i.e. WoW.

You just need to pop it in, install and download the updates. It's quite an old game, the newer graphics cards should handle it with no problem.
