I compared FW800/eSATA speeds the last time, they were ABOUT the same when I ran the benchmarks with a single drive. Unless you're using RAID or some other form of setup which has high I/O, I would say just stick with FW800 (since you may face some incompatibility issues with eSATA ExpressCards) to be safe.

Prices for Apple products are pretty much controlled. If you want it any cheaper then eBay is the place, although there are risks.

thanks n0d3, i've read the ebay applecare issue.
Not looking for the cheapest but the proper box with recipt, seems like edu applecare is $318, which is reasonable to me.
I thought i saw like during PC shows they will be selling like around $290+. so just need some confirmation for PC/it show prices. :)

Hi, im a new owner of MBP, so all the stuff are so alien to me, almost like studying just to learn how to use it haha. i have tried googling but all the terms and instruction are so confusing

so heres my question, i have an external HDD 250GB seagate. i wanted to use it for both pc and mac.

for pc, its more of transferring stuff like photos, movies etc which mac will be able to read and edit.

for mac, i will be using it for time machine.

so do i need to partition the drive into just 2 portions or its must more complicated than this?

I don't use Time Machine but if I remember correctly the partition/hard disk must be same or larger than the one in your Mac.

Not sure which MBP you have but even the newest 13" has a 250GB HDD minimum. Suggest that you get a separate HDD for Time Machine.

IMO, Time Machine works best wireless cos you wouldn't want to leave the HDD plugged in all the time (waste port etc). So Time Capsule or a supported NAS if you need it and can afford to shell out.

Here's further considerations if you need them: http://geekandabunlet.tumblr.com/post/499822350/heres-the-unscaled-version-click-for-full-size

I'm trying to convert my pst to mbox, or mbox to pst vice-vs, i don't think there is any email client in mac that support pst right?

i try searching around for software, but most of them has to be purchased etc for converting from pst to mbox or eml?

does anyone have any recommended software or solutions?

TIA!

I would like to get myself a macbook pro 13 Inch. But before i buy, i have some questions. Can any kind soul helps to ans my questions?

1) Can i install PPS Stream- Online movie application to Macbook Pro
2) After i install the MS office, do i need to insall PDF reader to open PDF files?
3) I called Macshop in funan, and was told that Iwork is already installed in the Laptop But epicentre told me that i would need to purchase it seperately, Why is it so?
4) Is it more worth it to get it from Macshop or Epicentre?

Sorry for my many questions.

2- OSX has built in support for PDF. Use Preview.
3- iLife comes with each Macbook. iWork is a separate purchase unless the shop has a promo bundle.

1) Nope
4) To me apple retailers are pretty much the same unless they happen to offer discounts for the accessories you happen to want to get. If you are a student, school purchases or online purchases are better.
