If your expected holding period is long (5-10yrs or longer) then 3-5% volatility this period becomes noise.

the narrative (if you agree), is the gradual but certain move away from USD dominance for trade (petrodollars) and central bank holdings (treasuries). For now the only viable alternative is precious metal, particularly gold.

once the iran conflict settles (or becomes accepted as “new normal”), CenBanks hoarding of gold will continue > past 3mths some sold to pay for energy, defend their currency and/or pay for (expected) increased defense spending
Year 2024 gold prices go from $2000 to $2600 which is still reasonable ,
but its 2025 that saw legit parabolic surge rally from $2600 to $4500 - which would include structural fundamentals demand , macroeconomic geopolitical driven demand and those join the bandwagon FOMO demand too.
Lets see where in between Gold consolidates now , untill the next rally lol

Gold price will be cui for a while as long as there is no Fed rate cut.

I see a down channel. No point adding now. Wait for a major catalyst such as Iran bombed to stone ages (if) or middle east oil supply flows back to normal.

The selling will continue as there is no yield for holding gold. In fact you are paying swap points for a long position with futures contract. For MIG there is no issue with swap points. Again no yield unlike MII or MISE.

Best to do asset rotation into US or China (excluding HK) AI and Chips sector.

I also agree huge probability gold spot will hit $4000 and below by end of Friday's close. The short to mid term trend is short not long.

Classic stop hunting by Forex/Commodities Futures sharks to take out the stop losses. They are the best of the best and I used to be a victim. 🤣

Everyone freeing up cash for SPCX, no interest to buy any dips. Fed meeting by new chair next week another event.

Anyway pro traders take turns to go on summer holidays until early sept > only left with retail to play marbles with each other.

I feel can carefully add position/DCA from following monday amidst the low liquidity.

Lets wait for the details > the bid/ask spread, transaction cost, vaulting/custody fee, settlement (real time, next day, 2 days?).

GXS also offering GXS Gold, their version of MIG discussed in this thread.

The 3 big banks will have their own inhouse gold solution , afterall they are biggy.

ETFs not bad , but banks bring the convenience , though Trust Bank buy etf much convenient than any broker platform , I invest a bit as they dont have fees until end of this year.

I saw Malaysia got many spread-only options but SG only have OCBC PMA while UOB got annual fees , so hope DBS can comeup with tighter spread , they need to compete with bullionstar savings program , etc too :ROFLMAO:

ya , the uob gsa minimum purchase of 5gm gold and need 100gm to convert to physical gold , are both not retail friendly.
Just like fractional trading encourage more ppl to start investing , than same logic can turn heads for commodities too.
We need SIMBA in the stock & commodities market :ROFLMAO:

We are waiting for the details which the article is light on but i expect the conversion to physical bars will unlikely be that small as 1gm or even 5gm. maybe 10gm or half oz?

personally i feel anything more than a full troy oz for minimum redemption to be unattractive and not retail friendly.

I see, i browse this thread occasionally so likely missed it.

did a quick check and see MIG has annual fee whereas GXS no fee which in theory is better for long term holding > it is possible the fees are hidden in the unit price when you transact.

Have , GXS 0.4% fee while MIG 0.5% fee , both r hedged lion global fund , not sure whats the other differences though apart from MIG can invest from $1 and GXS Gold from $100 ,
most of the other platform carrying lionglobal gold fund is 0.4% fee too.
But I guess the 0.1% difference would be shadow by the bigger price swings gold has , especially over long term horizon.

Most of my Gold allocation is in MIG as I got attracted by its currency Hedged haha , must evaluate its fees later at 1year mark incase they take more than 0.5%pa , etc.
Bcoz most banks / brokers carrying lion global gold fund doesnt have fee cap , that means they can charge us more than 0.5%pa , especially hedging costs.

Only the SGX Lionglobal Gold ETF has declaration by them -*We intend to cap the total expense ratio at 0.39% p.a. Any expenses that are payable by the ETF in excess of such cap will be borne by us and not the ETF.

I have a bit in OCBC PMA and in GLDM ETF via Trust Bank to test the platforms.
