Hello LonelyMan,

Always download firmware from offical web site

Then may i feedback to remove that fitmware check via the router web interface? Put up such an interface but ask end users to always download from another source. Illogical and poor commnication

ASUS RT-AC68U users can download from my mediafire or alternatively wait for until tomorrow for the official link to be live.

It can take about a day for the servers to sync, so firmware 3.0.0.4.374.371 should be available by tomorrow.

If you need firmware 3.0.0.4.374.339, you can download it here for now.

RT-AC66U: https://www.dropbox.com/s/3d7988xfxzlon3c/FW_RT_AC68U_3004374339.trx

RT-AC66R: https://www.dropbox.com/s/k10w02bc5l3bh0x/FW_RT_AC68R_3004374339.trx

I'll request for the web team to not take down older firmware when the new one becomes available.

As mentioned by RMerlin.

i am just wondering what is the advantage to use IPV6?

This is a long and complicated question.

The short answer: right now, the average user gains nothing at all.

The slightly longer answer: IPv6 will eventually replace IPv4, so right now for people to test things out, some ISPs are supporting both. They often provide you with a /64 subnet, meaning you get more static IPs for you to play with than the whole IPv4 Internet currently has.

The detailed answer: it would take pages and pages of text to explain the differences between IPv4 and IPv6. I recommend hitting Google, there are a lot of write ups on this topic. IPv6 has a lot of improvements over IPv4, but there's a learning curve (and a deployment pain) associated to it.

Important ~ do note that NAT-loopback with CTF aka hardware acceleration enabled is working on this firmware, IPCAM/NAS users that are using DDNS are strongly encouraged to flash to this .371 firmware.

Hi, I just signed up Singtel fibre and was given Aztech dual band wireless modem DSL7002GRV. Im thinking of trying this Asus AC68U and therefore planning to switch. Is this AC68U as easy as plug and play meaning, whatever ethernet cable currently plugged at the back of my Aztech, I can just plug out and plug in back to AC68 and thats it I! can stat surfing by keying in network password. Or I have to set some complicating online configuration setting?

Thank goodness it's fixed! I can finally access my NAS! :)

Hi All,

Anyone facing issues with Aztech WIPC401 IP Camera on AC68U router on the following firmware version?
.205 - no issue, can be access outside via http://wipcxxxx.nwsvr.com/
.339 - cannot access via http://wipcxxxx.nwsvr.com/ but can access via external ip address 124.197.xx.xxx:8081
.371 - both cannot access either DDNS or external ip address

Port forwarding is set as usual. What else did I miss? I am using manufacturer's DDNS.

Please advise. Thanks

Some new updates

Some other news wholesale from smallnetbuilder forums for you guys information. :D

1). NAT Loopback with CTF aka hardware acceleration enabled and VPN client connections are working as intended

I can confirm NAT loopback works now with HW Acceleration enabled. Also, the VPN client connections now stay put after refreshing the page or switching tabs back and forth. Good job Asus... Still waiting for some improvements on the 2.4G signal thou.

2). 2.4GHz performance tuning is in the works

We are looking into fixes on 2.4Ghz affecting some environments and setups. There will be another update soon.

Merlin assisted us with NAT loopback fix, so thank him as well.

3). IPv6 firewall implementation is in the works as well ;)

It's all about priorities. Asus is currently devoting resources in fixing existing issues that prevents the router from working at its full potential (including many IPv6-related issues if you look at the latest changelog). I'm sure this is something they will eventually get around to.

To be honest, the majority of home routers out there don't seem to have a configurable IPV6 firewall either. On the custom FW front, Tomato doesn't. DD-WRT doesn't either.

IPv6 is something that is still quite young, and manufacturers are still only beginning to really implement it. And ISPs aren't making it easy either, as some of them still have quite buggy/quirky/hackish deployment - when they do actually have it deployed.

The router already has ip6tables. I've been bringing up the v6 firewall with a script for a while now. making it deny new incoming connections is like 3 lines of code. The only problem is that it's not persistent in the stock firware.

4). ASUS RT-AC56 3.0.0.4.374.371 firmware is coming soon :)

My Asus RT AC68U

Good Morning,
I just managed to link up my router to my ONT and got my internet back. WHn i was trying to fix it the first time, I didnt get connected and after reading from experiences here, managed to get back my internet. HEre's my wired connection speedtest below. I'm on singtel fibre 150mbps. Went for the overkill for my router. I'm not a tech expert btw so please don't ask me about advanced stuff.

On my iPad 4 connected to 5ghz wireless band: 86.68 mbps download, 42.42mbps upload.

On my Samsung Note 2 on 2.4 ghz wireless: 8.79mbps download, 31.53mbps upload.

On my laptop wireless connection 2.4ghz: 51.98mbps download, 9.4mbps upload

Wireless connection on my desktop in my room, : 24 mbps, 13 mbps upload

Next to test is its reliability....

Got problem with my AC68U & ViewQuest.
In Bridge Mode the speed cannot go over 320Mbps
The VQ technician tested with both Zhone 2301 & 2426 at my place for 2~3hrs. Cannot leh.
In the end AC68U is used as AP connected to Zhone 2426.

Er.... shall I RMA the router?

Previously i was on 3.0.0.4.374.339, my WD tv live could not detect my desktop sharing folder.

upgraded to 3.0.0.4.374.371, now can detect the folder but its so lag that the video pause and buffer every 5 seconds.

The WD tv live is running on the 2.4ghz band.
I used to be able to stream huge files like 25GB before .339 .. now couldn't even stream 7GB files.
Did a speed test from my laptop on the 2.4ghz band.. previously was 123mbps and now dropped to 45mbps.

Hope to see fix for the 2.4ghz band as soon as possible. =D
