I have a strange problem with ac68u where it would dc every 3 hours once the wan lease time expires. I'm on viewqwest and had selected automatic ip under wan, so on ac68u's main page, there is a 3hr lease timer countdown. It will dc when the 3hrs is up (all clients on wired or wireless affected). We are still connected to ac68u, can ping the router but can't ping to sites such as Yahoo Singapore. When I refresh the router page, it shows that the wan ip is still connected and the syslogs also shows that it is still connected but we simply cannot surf until I shutdown the router and restart it! I have tried switching from automatic ip to static ip (since VQ can use static ip) but problem still persists. I have tried different firmware including the latest 339 but still same problem. After firmware upgrade, I did not hardreset the router and re-configure though because in my configuration, I had changed the router lan ip, disable dhcp (control access using client mac address), etc so I find it troublesome to hardreset and reconfigure 20 mac addresses. Somehow the router does not seem to know how to renew the wan ip and keep alive the connection. I reverted back to my old dlink dir-655 for a few days and had no problem but when I switch back to ac68u, same 3hr dc occurs.

Have I bought a dodgy unit? Or is there any other ac68u users encountering the same problem??

I guess since you have already resort to reverting back to your old router, why don't you give ac68u a reset first to rule out firmware issue before seeking technical support with avertek?

My wan lease shown 3 days instead of 3 hrs. Anyway mine on M1 fibre never face any disconnection issue so far.

Ok noted with thanks. I will try hard reset tonight. If it still happens than I guess I must have a faulty unit.

Anyone know why when I connected my laptop to AC68 thru lan cable it shows the Asus default SSID 'ASUS_5G' instead of my named SSID?

Tried connecting to my Slingbox thru lan cable, able to see there's connection but when run the app to access Slingbox it prompt unable to detect any internet connection.

Thank you the firmware update.

Unfortunately, the link doesn't work (for me at least). I experience the same problem when I try to download it from the Asus website.

Hello LonelyMan,

Always download firmware from offical web site

Then may i feedback to remove that fitmware check via the router web interface? Put up such an interface but ask end users to always download from another source. Illogical and poor communication
