Dear all,

Please do a factory reset after update the firmware.

Best regard,
JK

Factory reset means erase all my settings. I got so many WiFi devices means I need to reset everyone again? If every firmware upgrade needs a factory reset then wah mah see beh boh eng?

Is it possible to copy(export) out the configuration file (or such) then do a factory reset after which import the configuration file into the router so as not to go through the whole process of connecting each and every device again?

Dear Apparatus,

Why do you need to reset all your wifi device?? Just name the same SSID as the old and your device will automatically connect.

I don't get you. I thought factory reset erases all settings in the router?

Using Smart Connect means the router will auto connect to each and every device without even depressing their WPS button?

In my early DLINK routers there's provision to copy(export) out its configuration file with all devices' settings and then import the file back after a factory reset of the router. Here I have no need to re-key all the detail of every device again

Dear Apparatus,

Let me give you one example.

Old configure SSID: Apple
Password: Apple

New configure SSID: Apple
Password: Apple

If you restore to factory settings and you enter the SSID and password is same as previous SSID and password, then you don't need to connect device manually connect to the router.

Hi ASUS@SG

Just to check something.

If later I upgrade my router to the ASUS RT-AC5300 from my current RT-AC3200 and using the same SSID and password as previously would all the devices in my house be automatically connected. Or do I need to start all over again by connecting each and every device to the new router?

Hi ASUS@SG

I'm using singtel fibre service (high-end plan) at the moment. My modem/router is an aztech set that was supplied by singtel. Recently it seems to be giving me some problems, and I'm looking to upgrade to a better modem/router.

Which Asus model would you recommend?

I'm not tech savvy, so the most important criteria for me is the ease of installation. Would I have any problem with installing the Asus router as a newbie? Seeing page after page of technical issues in this thread really makes me worry. :)

Thanks.

Hi guys,

I recently upgraded to AC3200 and StarHub 1gbps plan. I did a speed test at 2m away from router and result was 200-300Mbps (download) and 300+Mbps (upload). Improvement was not much different when compared with old D-link AC router on previous StarHub 300mbps plan.

My router f/w is 7838 which I updated yesterday. Any solution to improve the speed? Thanks.

Dear Gloom,

Dear Gloom,
