I upgraded firmware to 380.3459 and now I am oh so stuck. I lost 5 GHz network and to make matters worst, I CANNOT downgrade firmware or use third party firmware.

Can anyone advise how to resolve this piece of s**t from Asus? Please...

1. Put RT-AC87U in the recovery mode by following these steps:
- turn off the router
- While pressing the "WPS" button at back; turn on the router and keep holding this button for 2 seconds after the router is on and then leave it.
- Quickly press the "RESET" button at back and keep pressing till the power blue led starting blinking slowly.

2. You may not need this step. Change your LAN or WiFi adapter in Windows to a static IP 192.168.1.2 and Gateway 192.168.1.1 if not identified.

3. Go to your browser and navigate to 192.168.1.1 (unless you change it)

4. You should be in the recovery firmware page. Browse the firmware and press upload button.

May I know what is the broadband connection speed and plan you are using?

ISP to Router = DL/UL ?

Tested this at my office:

Repeater mode,
88U 5ghz connect to RP-AC68
RP-AC68 connected to laptop gigabit port

Thanks. This is what I observed at the service center when they tested with U88 and RP-AC68U.
Have you tried another router as a media bridge mode in place of RP-AC68U and compare the speed?
To me its weird that I can achieve 500mbps upload and less than 200Mbps download. I'm using singtel 1GB unlimited.
1000 mbps vq

Used ASUS router with external antenna

Solved internet connection problem with StarHub

works much better than the lousy DLink router 868L

Don't think what telcos are thinking

What's the point of giving customers lousy products hat create problems

Might as well tell customers to buy our own router in the first place

Any of you guys encounter the router crash with wireless and lan not working.

Yep, like I've said on another forum:

After almost 2 weeks playing around with this version (380.3459), I'm still getting the error messages in log all the time:

Jun 6 19:47:01 WAN Connection: WAN was exceptionally disconnected.

Jun 6 19:47:01 DualWAN: skip single wan wan_led_control - WANRED off

Jun 6 19:47:06 WAN Connection: WAN was restored.

Plus getting disconnected, internet LED off, and GUI showing no internet connection. The only workaround I've found is every 2-3 days rebooting the device. Unplugging the modem and plugin it back didn't work for me.

What is the purpose of doing the reboot schedule? I thought just leave it on and don't touch if you don't encounter any problems?

reboot scheduler enables the router to reboot at the preset timing, such as the time and the day.

reboot regularly to avoid any firmware instability.

my ac5300 also rebooting daily and so far, no concerns over the days...

anyone knows what is the version of the default firmware that comes with the router?

You mean out of box ? Depends on the manufacturing date. If you wanna know the version on the current sets on shelf, it's printed on the box label.
