Dear all,

RT-AC87U_3.0.0.4_376_2874 < Beta

http://bit.ly/1xcmcYG

Please feedback

Dear ASUS@SG,

I appreciate your effort in releasing beta(s) for public to try. However I disagree with such service standard you are offering.

Its like you having 10 cups with only 7 lids. No matter how many times you release beta(s), there will always be 3 cups uncovered.

Whats the point of rotating the lids trying to cover the 7 cups?

I wouldn't test 2874, its is too tedious to keep upgrading and input user customisation. I will wait for the official one. i think RMerlin's 48 beta 3 could be better than your 2874.

Haha.. you can only tease ppl for so long if your little candy drops continuously disappoint. :)

@renfred89: I saved you the trouble, the latest FW3561 does not resolve both my issues.

Again, if Asus tech is serious about reproducing and resolving my issue, here are more details on my setup:
Laptop: Lenovo x220
Wifi card: Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205
Wifi card driver version: 15.14.0.2
OS: Win8.1 64bit

Dear ckh98258,

I just release for user who want to try out.

Tested the new FW drop 2784. 87U is connected to a Gigabit switch. DHCP router is connected to the same Gigabit switch.

1. Issue on 87U losing static IP in AP mode still exists. Loaded FW 2784 and upon completion, system asked for a hard reboot. Disconnected power to 87U unit for 5mins, reconnected power, booted up, can't find 87U using previous static IP address. Again, the 87U was assigned to an IP that is outside of DHCP range but within the same subnet mask. Using router DHCP list, 87U has automatically picked up an IP address that is "within" DHCP range. Loaded defaults, rebooted, set to AP mode, assigned static IP (no conflicts on the network) and repeated the same steps, 87U still decides to automatically picks its own DHCP IP. Rubbish.

2. IP connectivity issues on 5GHz still persists. Established connection from laptop to 87U using 5GHz band. Full bars and connected at 300Mbps (2x2). Able to ping gateway in CMD PRMPT. Able to access any web pages successfully. Let system idle for 3-4mins. Repeated CMD PRMPT ping to gateway and destination host unreachable. Funny thing is laptop remains connected to 87U with full bars at 300Mbps. Reopened IE and tried to goto any site, fails. Disconnected from 5Ghz band and reconnected to 2.4GHz band. Repeated the same steps, no IP connectivity loss. What a load of crap.

disappointed.

For the issue in point one. Can try before switch to AP mode from router on the AC87. disable dhcp first. then assign an address at LAN tab-LAN IP (DOnt do so at the wan section, it wont work) I suspect you set it at the wan section, if that is the case you are doing it wrong not an asus problem. Static ip fror a AP should be done at this tab (http://192.168.1.1/Advanced_LAN_Content.asp)

As for the issue in point 2 just forget the network for both bands on your pc, reconnect and input the password again. Oh ya if you are using a USB stick for the wifi adapter, under properties of the power adapter, then power management -> allow pc to turn off this device to safe power, uncheck it. The problem has since been solve on my notebook with a tp-link adapter. No harm trying out. (oh just saw your wireless adapter. You can refer to this link apparently a lot of people having same issues. suspect is intel driver problem)

(Most likely an issue with your wireless adapter, can try out with your other wireless device and see if it happens)

Hi:

I guess what you're trying to tell me is to set the static LAN IP in 87U Default Wireless Router mode, save it before switching the 87U over to AP mode. That's down right buggy. Even if I did that, when you actually configure the 87U to AP mode, it will prompt you if you want to accept Auto assign IP or static IP. If what you're saying is true, then Asus R&D should already know where to investigate the bug.

Second suggestion, done that. Even tweaked the DTIM and Beacon interval settings but same results - FAIL.

thx

I just tried and finished setting up 3561. I gotta agree with you the bugs present previously are still on rampage.

The wireless performance is definitely weaker than 2784, and is very buggy. I could be connected with full signal strength indicator yet with no internet access. I have to turn off my wifi and on back again to resume connection. this works for another good 10mins and have to restart again.

I'm reverting back to 2784 for the moment.........

I was abt to mention this... totally buggy since inception.. software team has the time to switch the graphic image of ac87u on setup page, but no time to crush the bugs.. oh well...

@asswor: No, i'm referring to the UI when you change the mode from Router to AP mode. There is a page that comes up and asks for IP as well as Wifi settings.
