AC3200 only 3T3R max link rate 1300mbps, i rather wait for AC5300 4T4R BCM4366 max link rate 2165mbps.

Then wifi at 1gbps is finally achievable at home haha.

AC87 so bad? I just jump ship from N66U. :s11:

Quantenna QT3840BC used on ac87u seems problematic on certain devices like note 4, galaxy s6. Usually asus wifi chipset is broadcom one, only on this model, asus backside itchy use Quantenna one.

But then I don't encounter problems with this router though. So QC problem or driver problem who knows.

This few days after updating to 5587. Note 4 has even more issues.

The speed lag is pretty serious. Even on 2.4ghz, whatsapp cant send message. Open a game app cant get connection, facebook not loading.

Tried on S6 edge or Tab S seems fine. This time round the issues is with regards to 2.4ghz wifi signal

Dear Keigo,

I am not sure if Quantenna is new to end user product line and as i know they always do enterprise level.

We are working closely with Quantenna to improve the ASUS firmware.

I will release another beta build soon.

Best regard,
JK

Yeah I am not familiar with Quantenna, besides knowing they are world first to release 4x4 MU-MIMO.Most of the wireless chipset I used are mainly from Broadcom, Atheros, Marvell etc.

But quantenna seems to be working hard with asus to release drivers to improve the chipset, well that's good.

Btw I am still using RT-AC87U, so having firmware updates is better than having none.:)

Then should be ok for me cos I am not using Samsung devices and using Xperia Z3, so far no issue with wifi.

Signed up for 1gbps recently and need to get a new router to go along with it. Kinda mixed up to get either the Asus ac87u or the newer Asus ac3200. Which of these 2 routers that i should go for? :s22:

Bro, slow as in how? Looks fast to me tho. :s11:

Download the same file via FTP on both 2.4G and 5G bands using my iPhone 6 plus. Just 2 meters away from the router with no obstruction. When on 2.4G band, it is almost 2 X faster than 5G band. Can see that the 5G download speed is inconsistent and slow. Flaws on the driver or chipset?apparently doesn't work well with 3 X 3 AC client. Its potential can only be fully unleash with 4 X 4 AC client? Like EA-AC87 which is the one and only in the the market at the moment. Still a long way to go for 4X4 AC client to be mainstream devices the way I see.

Huh??? You can download faster at 2.4GHz??? Funny... My iPhone 6 Plus can't even hit 40 Mbps at 2.4GHz. I can get around 150 Mbps at 5GHz.

Btw, iPhone is only a 1x1 AC client.

Iphone 6 plus 5G band also 1x1 only, that means a top rate of 433 Mbps.

Note 4 / S6 2x2, 866 Mbps. I got around 400 Mbps on Note 4 connected to 5G

To be honest iphone 6 plus wifi is not fast in the first place.

I updated to 5587 but had to roll back as whenever I applied settings, it just said 'applying settings' and never completed - tried hard reset and still no joy - back to 4950 and its working ok

After upgrading to 5587. Its like reverse for my side. The 2.4ghz is lagging On my Note 4. S6 edge & Tab S seems fine.
hence i switched my Note 4 to 5ghz, it works fast. But as usual, it will dropped out of 5ghz.

my pptp vpn rather unstable. Sometimes can connect, sometimes unsuccessful. I has to refresh the VPN manually in order for it to work again.
