Cook a simple vegetarian (tofu, seaweed, green veg, sesame seeds, white carrot, mushrooms or mushrooms powder etc) handmade soup noodles are nice, warm and delicious 😋.

Can choose to top up with 1 hardboiled egg.

For breakfast:
I like eat 1 hardboiled egg + banana + 1 cup of soy milk (less sweet or kosong). Very filling for start of a day.

Another is half avocado + 1 hardboiled egg + 1 cup of soy milk (less sweet or kosong). Very fulfilling too

Dear EDMW,

Usually I don't like to complain, but right now I just had a late lunch and I'm still feeling very hungry!

I am a self-employed, I work for my family business. Every year, my family embarks on a vegetarian lifestyle for more than one month whenever the Lunar Seventh Month approaches, so what I'm experiencing right now are meatless meals for the day. It's not stressful to go vegetarian, but I feel very hungry leh!

I just had a fantastic bowl of sweet potato porridge with bitter gourd, it's delicious! Yet, I just wish to eat some meat. I'm not sure how much longer I can last without going for my favourite McDonalds' McSpicy meal, but I'll try to stay meatless for as long as it takes. I started this thread because it's meaningless going vegetarian for myself, so I chose to share my meatless meals with you guys so that at least I attach some purpose to what I'm doing i.e. not eating meat.

Hope you guys have a good dinner, I'll have leftover porridge and bitter gourd from my lunch so my dinner will be the same as my lunch. My grandmother used to tell me about how they survived on sweet potato leaves fried with chilli and plain porridge during the World War II Japanese Occupation, I feel a strong sense of nostalgia whenever I eat minimal meat and recall the histories that my grandparents taught me.

In my Buddhist tradition, Om Mani Padme Hum.

🙏

I’ve been a vegetarian for over 10 years now. Honestly, I wasn't sure I could last at first.

My only prior experience was eating a vegetarian diet for 49 days to accumulate good karma for my grandmother after she passed away.

My decision to switch permanently felt like a sudden flip of a switch, even though I didn’t know how long it would last.

After about a year, encouraged by my Buddhist friends, I made a formal vow to Guan Yin Bodhisattva to commit to a lifelong vegetarian diet.

At the end of the day, food is just meant to fill our stomachs.

Everything we eat turns into waste after 12 hours anyway — expensive or highly nutritious food doesn’t make better fertilizer for plants!

Master Lu once mentioned that the satisfaction of eating only lasts for the seven inches from your mouth to your throat.

Once it passes that point, the sensation of "eating" is gone.

By choosing a vegetarian lifestyle, we avoid inflicting pain on other living beings, which helps us reduce the karma of killing — the heaviest negative karma in Buddhism.

Being vegetarian naturally builds immense good karma while allowing us to practice true compassion.

Of course I have tried salad, I love it! To be honest, I changed from a full carnivore to becoming a omnivore before I am experimenting with being a herbivore this very day. We even learned how to grow microgreens here in sunny Singapore and it's so nice harvesting our own greens and making salads at home. Greens taste best when we grow them ourselves, in fact we are quite fortunate to be living in Singapore where we are growing our own high tech organic farms, these days if we are lazy to plant our own greens, we'll go to NTUC Fairprice Finest and there are all kinds of delectable salad greens and organic vegetables which we can buy and just come home and eat. It's so nice...

.. Except that I don't want to become a full vegetarian like @pattanispirit suggests. I love my greens, but I don't want my vegetables to become definitive of who I am. I want to die as an omnivore not a herbivore because I was born as a human, not a cow.

vegetarian food can be very delicious too.

My favourite is Vegan Burg:
https://www.veganburg.com/menu
Not sure if you all are familiar with another similar one which is called nom vom. They actually originated from golden shoe center, when the vegan burg franchise fall out at that branch. The owner discontinued the franchise and rebranded themselves to nom vom. They closed most of their branches left with clarke quay now. The standard is comparable and they got alot of noodle dishes which are extremely nice too.

If you go JB, you can find them also under peace cafe. Not sure what happened there but it was called nom vom also, not sure why they rebrand.

if u go China, their vegetarian restaurant serve buffet style lunches at very low cost.

something like below restaurant, it typically cost about RMB35 or SGD 7 for a buffet lunch.

the serving is like 5 star hotel buffet.

frankly, they r not easy to find as a tourist, u can use the website / app called

https://www.happycow.net/

to locate all vegetarian / vegan restaurants in the world by the country.
