Don’t impoverish yourself.

Eat some good meat and protein.

Your body needs it.

The more you eat this kind of watery porridge with salted veg,

The faster your body collapse.

That one too salty la, it started off ok, but towards the end they were focused on cutting costs and I was basically eating MSG all the time. If I'm not wrong you're talking about the one at Teck Ghee hawker centre. AMK no more good vegetarian food as far as I'm concerned, what's left are all very profit oriented and not much conscience when it comes to the seasoning.
yes, i'm talking about that one. AMK i remember last time (25 years ago) the blk 226 zichar was really delicious and popular, until the quality drop and drop and price up and up, and service down and down. wonder if it is still there. i think it is them who made the 奶油田鸡 famous and everyone started copying them.

Vegetarian food is not hard to find, delicious vegetarian food still have but lesser and lesser and more expensive. 妙意 was a legend when it started at bukit timah and then shifted to chinatown and finally close down.

Healthy vegetarian is like unicorn. The best healthy/clean sort of vegetarian i feel are those healthy bowls at CBD like dailycut, supergreens, omnivores etc where we just choose the non meat bowls. REAL FOOD is very decent but the price is not practical for everyday food. MTR if not because quite far from my house i would eat more frequently. Hopefully the sexperts here can share more on healthy vegetarian food so we can expand our choices.

The 409 AMK market one closed down already, i've tried it once and think its pretty good. I'm not a fan of veg chicken rice. But i find it nice as long as the curd skin remains crispy.

There was 1 coffeeshop stall sell nice vegetarian Duck Rice at Blk 630 AMK (near Yio Chu Kang CC). Then due to rent up, shifted to Govt-managed Mayflower Hawker Centre.

Yes singaporeans r messy and they do not understand their religion well. Like a Buddhist, in a Buddhist wake setting but going through Taoist musicians and so on.....A PURE BUDDHIST DOESN REQUIRE TO BURN PAPER HOUSE & money! All con by funeral parlor
I think this issue is universal, not just in sg. Majority just scratch the surface of their faith or got it totally wrong. But i personally feel if it can somehow invoke a sense of deep faith doesn't matter if it is blind, or put someone in a state of momentarily non-ego because they submit to it and gain a fleeting perspective into the joy/release from non-ego pov. thats a win. people with different level of attainment need somewhere to start even if it seems wrong.

Remember the master lu? whether he is con man or not, many people acquired deep faith and learn how to chant many scriptures. wrong or right in the path to realization is really very hard to discern in the grand scheme of things. This is also where i learn that the religion, or even no religion don't even matter. What matters is the type of connection we have to our faith, what sort of emotion and feelings or motivation it can invoke in us. A faith can bring one to do great things even if it is wrong to the logic mind.

Noted with thanks. I noticed the stall when I was there a few days ago, but I didn't notice the special vegetarian duck rice until you mentioned now. If I got visit Mayflower market again I'd try it out.

i remember vegetarian duck rice is pretty awesome one. They use the stalk of mushrooms to imitate the duck meat and steep in the braised sauce. Super delicious. But i didn't ate from that stall you mentioned and i forgot where i ate it. lol.

Of course I have tried salad, I love it! To be honest, I changed from a full carnivore to becoming a omnivore before I am experimenting with being a herbivore this very day. We even learned how to grow microgreens here in sunny Singapore and it's so nice harvesting our own greens and making salads at home. Greens taste best when we grow them ourselves, in fact we are quite fortunate to be living in Singapore where we are growing our own high tech organic farms, these days if we are lazy to plant our own greens, we'll go to NTUC Fairprice Finest and there are all kinds of delectable salad greens and organic vegetables which we can buy and just come home and eat. It's so nice...

.. Except that I don't want to become a full vegetarian like @pattanispirit suggests. I love my greens, but I don't want my vegetables to become definitive of who I am. I want to die as an omnivore not a herbivore because I was born as a human, not a cow.
Huh? I only said salad is filling. The only reason I don't eat it for my two main meals is because it takes so long to chew through it. 30 minutes to an hour after I start eating. Whereas I am done with most other food in 5-10min.

Home made vegetarian fried oyster cake. Not I cook one, I responsible for eating :giggle:

WhatsApp%20Image%202026-08-01%20at%2020.47.30.jpeg

There is a non-aircon coffeeshop stall at Blk 443 Clementi (near the bus interchange). Sell vegetarian oyster egg omelette at $11. Felt disappointed. Very small portion and the mock oyster is super rubber feel during biting.
