i just got myself a wasd Code keyboard from massdrop clear switches for typing, got a red K70 red led not the RGB version, very satisfied with the typing experience with the clear switches , but can someone advise on the default keycaps are PBT or ABS key caps? would love to try out more on keycaps.

thanks~!

puiehz:

I'm not sure what are the stock keycaps, but I do know that Corsair keyboards are a bit tricky when buying new keycaps sets, the bottom row is not generic. do doublecheck on that.

Dell:
depends what material you like, I got some wooden ones from taobao. quite nice, if you want gel or silicone types think can check out glorious pc or something like that.

Dark:

thanks! will check them out, wasted I just had some stuff shipped out from taobao.

no problem! i'm now looking at getting a 84 keys keyboard, with granite keycaps set. very tempting.. and might be the last upgrade that i'll be getting.

almost.

for starter it must be using the same switches, (cherry, Topre).

then it must be the same formate, ANSI, ISO. I think there's still a couple of styles. this usually affects the ENTER key, AND OR the last row, (CRTL, ALT spacebar), sometimes, maybe even the CAPS lock button is different.

haven't really come across any decent diy kit for tkl (87 keys).. there are just too many ready made ones available i guess. usually the really cool DIY kits are for those odd size keyboards, e.g. rs96/zz96 combo, duck light saver, planck, and of course the popular 60 keys keyboards.

Hi guys,

so what is the trend for mech keyboards now? Is Cherry MX still the best keys? Where do you guys buy? SLS? Or Taobao is better? Thanks!

Just got this Armaggedon MKA-3C with blue switches from a company called "Content" never heard of them before, their blue switches felt more "sharp" and the tactile sound is more of a higher pitch. For 50 bucks it's pretty decent, bought it to put inside my office.

trenz:

currently in my rotation, I have some zelios mixed with gateron black and browns, another with full cherry browns, and also a CM novatouch, I use, the zelios/ gateron most, and cherry browns mainly at home, the novatouch is still waitingfor a proper set of keycaps, but I use it with a set of taihao dblsht abs for now, quite diff feel. but quite like them all.

I think I actually still like the cherrys best. weirdly the novatouch are quite nice, had quite a few ppl complain that they don't like them. as for the zelios, they are with a set of shitty keycaps so I think I shouldn't judge them as of now... :s13::s13::s13:

taobao is good if you know what you are looking for, local will be good cos you get a feel of what you are paying for. but of course you can also do it the Singaporean way, try local buy online. :D

I'm using Cherry MX Browns and Gateron Browns (replacements) on my BlackWidow Ultimate Stealth. Both are good but the Cherry MX feels slightly better.

I also have Kalih Greens on my BlackWidow Tournament. While a lot of HWZners do not like Razer keyboards with Kalih switches, I'm happy with mine. Good consistent feel.
