Personally, i think facial is therapeutic by nature, it's supports your daily routine of cleanse-tone-moisture-treat-weekly of scrub-mask. Many people mistaken it as pay it all ends it all, you pay but your woos doesnt ends there, the reputation of the facial is impt but more so is the therapist that is assigned to you that is most crucial, i've been on the 'operation table' several times, but there is this facial call bonafides, that so far i'm very happy with the therapist as she nv hardsell me anything while my face is under the mercy of her hand

they have some promo on going it will work out like $36/treatment, its a basic treatment tailored to the skin type (thats really little use for 'fanciful' exotic treatment!) so dun waste the money to 'top up' your basic package.

if you do sign up eventually, ask for the therapist call 'penny', she is this young petite girl, patient & professional

Agree, it contain a certain level of truth, it's best to 'understand' your condition then to decide whether a facial is the top agenda, most of the time facial at the initial stage or in the midst of bad breakout would mean very little help, it is much more recommended for people who are no longer on antibiotics topical/oral & have a more stable condition but with clogged pores forming white/black heads due to active oil secretion & not for those with medium-severe acne vulgaris.

i will suggest using the amt of $ on facials, go to NSC, and you still got $ left to buy a PSP + Xbox + Wii.

option 3 is much preferred as BP is more easily absorb that way & the mosituriser acts as a shield to reduce drying, BP 2.5 should be applied on entire face in the most gentle motion avoiding eye region & sensitive mucus area.

as a matter of fact i can't believe myself too when i first heard from dermatologist that BP 2.5 should be applied on whole face instead on 'spot' treatment but after sometime it start to really work.

menscience products will make your skin prone to sunburn/sensitivity. Does the other products like lab series have this issue as well? Cuz just bought menscience recommended frm the sales person from WHATHEWANTS. got special offer for cleanser, toner and acne lotion. Save up to 50 bucks. Anyone using menscience as well? Can the toner apply to acne area and nose area?

the sunburn and sensitivity only last a few days, for my case, after some time, no more sunburn, mayb need some time to let the skin get use to it, i am happy with menscience facial wash

I would like to think that these doctors really prescribe some 'super effective' drugs thats safe for usage with little known side effects, but i guess that's just wishful thoughts on my part. Drugs are drugs, it doesn't matter whether it comes from a famous clinic in orchard or just a GP in polyclinic, It's acne vulgaris we are dealing with here not cancer advance stage, you don't need those big names to prescribe you things like tetra/doxy/monocycline/Erythromycin/Clindamycin/accutane etc or or a cocktail of drugs for both oral/topical but that's not to deny those big names of their credit, if you have spare cash & don't mind the costly upkeep of revisiting the 'specialist' then ofcos you are much encouraged to do so, but what if money is an issue just as important as finding a soln to your acne vulgaris, my sincere advice is to visit polyclinic ASAP to get referral to NSC, the sooner you do this, the faster your road to recovery, YES it will take sometime before you get your first consultation but trust me the moment you enroll in it, the rest of the session will just fall in place naturally in sequence. the only diff between you(who choose to go through the long path) & that who choose to see pvt 'specialist' is that he/she may start the treatment earlier than you but eventually both of you will meet at the end point with the same result but definitely only at a fraction of the cost compared to seeing pvt specialist.

overrated is improper a word to describe their professionalism. They do what their knowledge & experience has thought them, but well maybe what you are referring to is exceptional high amount of good reviews. i would say is the 'connection' that was form between the consultant & the patient, the amount of trust built over repeated visits, 'specially formulated lotion/cleanser' & results delivered.

but why don't people rave about NSC, been put through another 'regular' govt clinic with typical unfamiliar faces each time you visit, no fanciful concoction of lotion, little connection between patient & consultant as each visit you will most probably see a different dermatologist. there's hardly any exciting part to rave about.

but the similarity between 2

they both prescribe common drugs
they both deliver results

under govt subsidy( there is no age requirement to get subsidy, been a citizen is good enough a reason to obtain the referral letter from any polyclinic) you will most prob pay $30-40 for your first visit which include consultation+medicine but subsequent visit will be even cheaper.

dermatologist at NSC do not prescribe 'potion' to make your acne go away, they will only advise you on how to be a wise consumer when buying your facial products, reading inbetween the lines, scrutinising the ingredient & most important of all, understand your skin & learn to manage it not fight it.

how long has the redness persist? does it cause itchiness? what is your application practice like (entire face,spot treatment)? did you mix with other 'treatment' product? is there any other ingredient in the BP that might cause allergy? are you sensitive to BP? have you been actively under the sun for prolong hours at the start of your BP application?

what cleanser are you using?
a harsh cleanser can strip off excess natural skin buffer & increasing sensitivity to BP

it should be a oil/alcohol free, hypoallergenic

the current two common brand offered in the market (all leading pharmacy)

Benzac AC 2.5

panoxyl 2.5

the concentration is good for application on entire face avoiding sensitive area such as eye or other membrane region. always apply in gentle circular motion until it's completely absorb by the skin, have to dab sufficient amount to spread thin layer over entire face.

wash->tone->BP->moisturise

it may not be suitable for everyone but most guys response well to these treatment with short lived & minimum peeling/flash at the initial stage thanks to thicker epidermis skin layer than woman.

brand is less impt, ingredient is!

well if you are comfortable with your current condition, all you need will be gentle products-products that's suitable to your skin type but general rule of thumb for facial products regardless of your skin type... oil/alcohol/fragrance & ideally preservative free but having fulfilled the first 3 is sufficiently good enough. while the gray area will be products that carry essential oil such as those from origins or products that have alcohol denat(widely used) you have to understand how they will react on your skin & your lifestyle will impact the response of your skin too.(eg if you work in airconditioned area & use moisturiser that contain alcohol/alcohol denat, your skin may feel dry though may appear oily on surface but essentially lacks moisture underneath, in this case the moisturiser containing essential oil may be better & vice versa)

periodic basic facial helps clear your skin though the moment after your facial or the day after you may notice mild infection on skin due to bacteria infection or your skin may flash for 1 day due to 'heavy' overhaul work been carried out otherwise you should be fine.

i follow the regime from www.acne.org.. i used all their products.. cleanser treatment and moisturizer but no toner is inside.cleanse face first then i use BP all over my face... my skin is very oily but after a few weeks my skin became dry and started to peel. i think my skin is sensitive towards BP.

I dunno what 'potion' is recommended on 'acne.org' but i got this method of application from dermatologist during my last few consultation b4 bidding farewell. The advice i got is what kind of product to use & not brand, & how to infer from the ingredient list to make a wise decision on whether the product will be suitable for myself & not just solely on those big bold print - 'for oily/acne skin, wont cause dry skin, soap-free(soap free doesn mean alkaline free something like sugar free doesn mean its not sweet it just contain other thing but glucose)

I think the idea of application might be the same but since they are commercial website, the btm line of all these what seems like plausible & sound recommendations is still to sell a 'certain' service/products so its essentially important to understand the essence of the whole treatment, branding has powerful influences on people's decision over the actual usefulness/effectiveness/suitability of the product, no matter what product it is, understand what is inside is the first step to a wise consumer, exotic ingredient doesnt necessarily gives extraordinary result instead most of the time, they are there to 'pop' up the price.

sebamed is a relatively good product & usually recommended by dermatologist for its gentle yet effective ingredients.
