Actually after using it for a while it's THE selling argument for the Surface. You get a fully portable keyboard and mouse (touchpad) with no increase in bulk or weight, considering you would want a screen cover anyway.
You get quite a few looks out there when flipping around with the keyboard and kickstand in public, lol.
And the iCrowd's dropping jaw when the mouse pointer appears...priceless ;-)

A lot of the reviews of the surface have called out the schizophrenic nature of Win8, with the Live Tile Start Screen and the desktop mode running alongside.

But in the last 24 hours I realise that they way I use a tablet is also schizophrenic. When I want to lie back on the couch and use a touch-interface, the Metro interface is spot on.
But when I want to get serious about my work emails, docs etc then flip out the kickstand and keyboard and use it like a laptop.

This isn't confused, this is the best of both worlds in a single unit

After some more usage...does anyone else think the headphone amps are massive?
I mean even with my full size studio earphones it starts to be quite loud at 30/100. And the in-ears should not be used beyond 24 or so...there is some serious juice in there...

Just want to check with bros here whether you all receive shipping email from microsoft? I placed order on 4th of Nov, my cc got deducted on 5th of Nov and after that no news from microsoft. I thought they will only deduct my credit card when they ship out my surface? Also no news from CGW yet ...

microsoft will send you the invoice immediately after ur CC is charged. and you also see an option to track the shipment progress to the US address. you won't receive any info from CGW until the item arrive at the US address

I placed an order for the $599 model on the 5th Nov and today I received an email from MS saying the unit has been shipped. I am surprised they managed to fulfill the order so fast.

Also surface without touch cover ($499) is now in stock.

Yes. However if your card is rejected, try another card.

woohoo surface just reached cgw so after repack n discount from cgw paid usd111+ to ship to me using express shipping, will reach me by 16/11 woohoo...

if dun repack it will be 8kg instead of 5kg with the touch cover. so ex plus they add in gst as well blah blah...

am i missing somthing here. how come the surface with touch cover is soo heavy. my package was only 2kg. i think u r talking abt lbs???
