You may want to get the m1 prepaid mobile broadband or use someone's m1 3g to test there..

Just sharing my own share of experience. Seems like all 3 major telcos have problems in different areas.

I am on SinKTel BBOM 2Mb plan. For SinKTel, in Woodlands area, the speed is generally ok, EXCEPT for regular peak hours, which by now means 6PM - 1AM. During these hours, if you are using the bundled Huawei modem (mine specifically is E180, other models may perform differently or better, however), the mobile broadband is virtually useless - you can still connect but it is just empty idle connection (sometimes even with 'no StinKTel 3G network detected' errors). This has been the case for the last 1 year and a half, with the initial first 6 months being the worst in that it is not usable ALL DAY.

But switching out the SIM and using the SIM in a couple of 3G phones I have, the connection becomes, at the very least, usable, giving anything from 10kbps to 100kbps (very jumpy, fluctuating a lot during these hours). The best is my iPhone which consistently maintains a largely stable connection (but still with occasional errors of "connection time-out" or "incorrect IP address" throughout the hours). But at least it is usable - with the screwed up Huawei modem it is completely FUBAR with no hope at all.

So what I learned is - you have to try your luck and see which telco is least likely to shortchange you in areas that you are most likely going to use your mobile broadband (and use a decent modem) - although working around the problem of telcos shortchanging you by staying put in selected fixed locations, does conceptually defeats the purpose of using 'mobile' broadband, to certain extent..

Weird, my housemate also using ST mobile bb 2mbps but slow like hell at Marsiling area. Im using SH mobile bb so far so good, 7.2mbps speedtest can get up to nearly 6mbps for download at night time. Just tried my another housemate who use SH 2mbps mobile bb, speedtest last night abt 830pm can get 1.9x mbps...

look thru my previous posts in this thread...orange camp worse than green...

i took up 21mbps...didnt get even up to 7.2mbps...

compared it with my friend's green 7.2mbps, in about 5 different places to the west south central north east of singapore, green signal consistently better and video streaming better

Really depends on the area you will use it most often.
I use my M1 1Mbps in the East area, hardly had problems.

Really depends on the area you will use it most often.

I guess so. seems like there are some areas better for one telco than another.

Guess that even things out among the ISPs so no one has a absolute advantage while Mobile BB is concern.

So the deciding factor will be where you stay, where you roam most and what you willing to pay.....

It has been more than 2 weeks since I got my StarHub Maxonline Value Plus package and I have not experience any disconnections on home (Hougang) or outside (I seldom use the mobile BB but I was able to surf while I was on my 147 or 74 all the way to Ngee Ann and SP so far, speed wise is slow).

I opt for StarHub just because it has a package for Home and Mobile BB (both unlimited) at $39.11.

I do agree that Singtel Mobile BB has better area coverage than StarHub or M1 as I have colleagues who are on Singtel Mobile BB.

Here's my FR after testing M1's 7.2Mbps plans. At good times, I'm able to get
up to 4-5mbps download speed. average is 2.3Mbps. Uploads speed is average of
200kbps. At good times, speed is 500kbps. Impressive I would say.

My area is around YS-ONE ( Yishun). starfrub is not recommended. Upload speed is
Rarely near 80kbps. singtel upload speed is about 200kbps as well.

Last time got 1 period, will keep dc especially heavy raining. For now, depends also. Mostly heavy rain, sometimes will dc once like that.

This what he told me, i also not too sure. For starhub 3G, now all ppl know already la. But i still going to sign my iphone tomorrow from starhub...
