Guess that even things out among the ISPs so no one has a absolute advantage while Mobile BB is concern.

So the deciding factor will be where you stay, where you roam most and what you willing to pay....:).

It has been more than 2 weeks since I got my StarHub Maxonline Value Plus package and I have not experience any disconnections on home (Hougang) or outside (I seldom use the mobile BB but I was able to surf while I was on my 147 or 74 all the way to Ngee Ann and SP so far, speed wise is slow).

I opt for StarHub just because it has a package for Home and Mobile BB (both unlimited) at $39.11.

I do agree that Singtel Mobile BB has better area coverage than StarHub or M1 as I have colleagues who are on Singtel Mobile BB.
at least yours doesn't d/c unlike mine. every single day I get it. annoying.

Nah. I have not used it often enough to know if it still work good some other places..I seldom got the time to use it outside with my netbook unless for studying but I always bring it out just in case.

Not sure why yours got disconnect so often but I will get annoy too if it happens to me. That reminds me of the free Wireless@SG hotspots at some places where it will get disconnected very often.

Have you tried swapping the sim card to another modem to see if it is still disconnecting with someone who also has the same ISP service as yours?

Just thought I would quickly share a mildly amusing anecdote with all regarding my awful experience with SinKTel mobile broadband service for the past 19 months (story told in a couple other threads sometimes back liao). In short, 2 different complaint feedback forms filled and a total of 3 usual useless template responses (by 3 different persons), my question/statement for them: "no proper (mobile broadband) service during normal human hours, no payment" is met with the response that reads:

"..that payment will be as per normal. Which is on a monthly basis as stated in the sales agreement"

Which completely avoids the question about SinKTel's virtually unusable mobile broadband service from 6pm - 1am EVERY DAY, and indirectly response to my view (that says: "I am not going to pay if you don't provide service") by emphasizing that 'the sales agreement dictate that I have to pay on a monthly basis no matter what'.

They do have sense of humor.. :)

Other than my office line which I have not much of a choice except to use them, I've decided against SingTel since a long time ago. Poor customer service, and terrible pricing strategies (good strategy from their point of view of course, everything in fine print and you just pay according to the bill that is shoved down your throat). The only time was when they first entered the mobile broadband market, during which M1's product offering was absymal. Once M1 came up with the 50% discount, I jumped over almost immediately, while SingTel's customer service could only offer me a 30% discount. Well, eventually they did 50% too as well... so they lost a few customers because of their slow reaction times.
Giant conglomerates are like that I guess, slow moving behemoths.

Yeah I understand your point there. Usually, those sales agreements are the ones that will let us suck thumb and get on with life. What is signed on agreement is legal binding.

Just take a look when IDA decides to penalize the ISP for lack of services standard to the consumers with a "gentle slap on the hand (just like a child didnt score high enough points in exam and say try to do better next time, ok?)" kind of fines you will know why the ISPs can give you these kind of answers.

Its seems to me that as long as the ISPs can proof that they can deliver the speeds out from their infrastructures, the ISPs do not really care if you can connect at surfing speed at homes or have a connection to your 3G network or not outside because the ISPs can proof that everything is fine with their infrastructures. IMO.

As many network guys will say there is no way the ISPs can assure of any decent or connections from the user side as there are many factors affecting the network. So it the same there is no way we can ever proof that the ISPs are not adequate in their infrastructures that are supporting the broadband and 3G networks.:( IMO.

This used to be true, but as of current, try during low usage hours and you will know that the infrastructure needed is there!

You need to be more clear on which part of Yishun & which Telco. For example.
Mine @ YS-ONE is around 2-4Mbps average on 7.2Mbps Starhub

Update - upgraded to 2Mbps V plan with free Huawei router rental.
Things are working fine - though over the weekend, the top speed was only about 600kbps, but that's generally expected on weekends.
