MoCA Network Setup | Ethernet over TV cable

hi guys, new to MOCA here so appreciate any help you might have. two questions:
1. is it absolutely necessary to install POE filter? Reason being my unit the SCV is locked and it would be a hassle to install it. what's the worst that can happen if I don't install the filter?
2. to prevent data leakage, can I just unplug the cable coming in at the riser?

No. 2Q - Yes. The incoming line will T-branch into your house. Take out the T and connect both the cables with a female-2-female coaxial connector

IMHO.
I am not using - so far so good. For security, can consider fixed IP.

Yup. That's what I did for my SCV cables. Unfortunately, they won't work. Not sure what issue.

However, it work with my TV cables which are also coaxial

I see. Also, I wonder whether it's better to just connect the MOCA adapter to SCV point using a F-type male to male plug rather than a coax cable? This'd minimize any signal loss, right?

Just make sure it works first. Other things can come later

Hey guys, new to the moca concept. Thinking of trying it out. But I realised my room has the super old radio point and TV point side by side.

I'm assuming none of them are SVC ports. Would I still be able to setup moca?

TV cable is coaxial same as SCV cable

I'm using my old TV points for MoCA

SCV and TV point connector pins are different. The pin for TV point is thicker than SCV which is needle-like. Just don't mix the two

SCV point connects to SCV point

TV point connects to TV point

Check your connections again

My 30-yr old HDB house has both SCV and TV points

Damn. Just checked. Mine doesn't have the old TV point in the living room.

I'm trying to connect using two Frontier FCA252 MoCA 2.5 adapters but it doesn’t seem to work: the power and ethernet LED are on but not the MOCA LED. I suspect it’s the cable in the box (see photos attached). Can anyone tell me if one of these cables should be reconnected or disconnected and how? Disconnect the right side cable and test

Disconnect all the cables from the splitter and connect the 2 cables on the left side with a female-to-female coaxial connector.

If still cannot then likely one or both cables has problem

What are you connecting? TV points or SCV points?

If SCV points don't work you can try TV points if you have them

Mine have both but only TV points work

Finally fixed it by connecting the MOCA with one of the cables from the cabinet. now getting 500M in the other room for the 1G plan. Thanks for the help!
