Not sure whats the rates last weekend but i manage to change in HK (Chungking Mansion - Singapore Money Changer) at 5.375 (Saturday), 5.38 (Monday).

Ya, retailers don't accept 1k notes because of counterfeit 1k notes some time back. And it becomes some sort of self ban. The last time I managed to break into smaller notes was because of a friend's friend. She deposited our 1k notes into her bank account then withdrew back our money into 500HKD for us.

I'm still trying to find out if banks accept or see if any more money changers are friendly enough to change...

Zzz. I usually go cha chan teng or street stalls. 1k notes jin hard to get rid of at these places.

if you are getting an octupus card, just use your $1k to top up. no problems at all.

Hmm. Maybe a good idea. Top up 1k for Octopus card, then use it at wherever that supports Octopus card payments.

But that's just one piece spent. I still got a few more pieces. I one person go restaurant like jin weird.
