not sure how many people know this - squeeze toothpaste the size of a bean can already, not like advertisements show one length of the toothbrush... in the long run can save on toothpaste expense

True Story!!!! :) I do that too.

may be penny wise pound foolish?

I'm not sure of the science behind it but protecting your teeth with a little more toothpaste is better than going for dental treatment.
Still need to go for the half yearly dental checkup. Regular brushing and not the amount of toothpaste makes the difference.

budget like government....year by year basis...spend and live within your means...make sure every year got surplus....good target is 20% of your income...and dont be afraid to spend on what you need or want...as long as within your means....more important than saving is increasing your earning power...especially when you are young....

i buy my groceries online - got free delivery (no car no bus no need travel). and wait for sales when got voucher code!!! can save a lot more than those credit card rebates :) usually on redmart (plus u use this cashback website called shopback they give you 9% back damn good. lobang here: https://www.shopback.sg/hwz for $5 signup bonus). money can take out into bank account one.

havent tried: honestbee, ntuc fairprice, cold storage. i heard gd things about honestbee though, and fairprice got best price (but website not as nice as redmart haha) :s12:

i also heard about this one called happyfresh > anyone got try before? apparently they not atas but sell fresh market foods :s22:

i got a mess in one of the camps in jurong. You think they will deliver for me inside bo? LOL. But is the price comparable? Should't they be charging a delivery fee or something.

hi sis, i disagree with u. marriage gives u a lot more savings, because its dual income, but spending together. cook for 2 person is more economical than for 1 person.....

kids bring u a lot more happiness
but say just for fun, calculate the income.. if u bring ur kids up well... he should give u back monetary returns when he start working?
:s13:

worth it? dont wanna do so much surveys.. sometime so tired answering questions..
but if amount is worth it, then not so bad to do during office low peak hours
yeah i agree..

money is impt, but the joy of family is nth compared to having money..

kids/children can be a nuisance, but the joy cannot be measured.
and yeah, the number 1 rule to happiness is finding the right partner, same direction and view in life..

dosent matter how much u make/save.. everything goes to zero when we leave this world.

and its also not right to say giving to parents, den maybe later... medical bills can wipe out entire savings..
this is similar to saying, grow children for future.. which i beg to differ.. avoid seeing ur kids as money tree..

It is interesting to read many great ideas on saving, to the extend of walking home, buying toilet paper in bulks, except many of the saving ideas were later spend on 50K renovation, 20K wedding, half a million home, and finally a 20K funeral.

And there are also those who work hard-save hard, work hard-play hard, ended up with sleepless night and stress.

sure, i stay in yishun and work in cbd. By the time I reach home I have to walk back to the office

Walking from CBD to Yishun will only take 4 hours :)

Well not going to that extreme la. But sometimes 1 station may save you 8 cents :) Or perhaps walk from MRT instead of taking feeder bus. Probably the savings may be marginal but it gives chances to exercise :) Save money, no need to go gym.

Actually for me the simplest way is to save money for buying coffee/drink during lunch. this can be easily $2. 20 days in a month, savings of $40/month, $480/year

for those first-timers who never used honestbee before, there is $12 off for first-time user with minimum $100 spend. that is immediate 12% savings. even if a particular item you wanted is out of stock and cannot fulfill, they still deduct $12 off your bill. definitely work using at least 1 time to save that $12.

Not everyone will end up with filial children. There are cases that the children swallow the parents' wealth and kick them to old folks home. Or abandon their parents and don't want to settle the high medical fees. And so on... ....

Not sure if it has been mentioned before: I save $2000 a month by not having a car and use the savings of $24k annually for my vacation....:s34:
