how does that work?

Every top up of happy 128 entitle you $100 local call $28 intl call for 50 days. B4 expiry do another top up will bring forward unused credit for another 50 days. After 50 days unused credit will be forfeit.

Some tips you can use to cut down spending

1. Cancel excess credit cards. Keep 1 or 2 only.

During outing, ask your family, relatives or friends who have that card to pay first, and you pay them cash back)

2. Withdraw your expenditure by weekly. Give yourself weekly allowance

(Eg : $100-$150 for food and groceries)

This will help you keep in mind if you withdraw extra.

can we get data plan on it? if can very good deal~:D

Prepaid plan more wohua for voice and sms usage... (More if u use idd to call to countries like china, india, philippines, etc)

Prepaid data plans quite chui one... Rather u go and sign a post paid 3g plan.

But if u insist on a prepaid plan, I suggest u look at the hi!card one... Pay $7, get 1gb data that has a expiry date of 1 week.

some of my money saving techniques

- check which card offers cashback and utilise it to the max (e.g. Manhattan cashback is cap at $200 so I'll ensure that I charge all purchase i have, even pre-pay for some items to hit that)

- keep more credit cards, but only use the right one (e.g. shop in robinson, us robinson card for rebates etc)

- look out for sale period (e.g. OG sale, Metro sale). for the records I bought a few sets of queen size bedsheets during OG sale for only $9.80!! It has fitted queen size sheet, 2 pillow cases and 1 bolster case.

- Switch off all appliances when not in use. I don't switch it to stand-by mode only. I turn off the switch, some appliances which i use less frequent I'll even unplug from the power point.

- Wash laundry when it's full load (save water too)

- cool anything u need to place into the fridge

- currently i tether my phone data plan so that i can go online using my laptop or the TV (no need to subscribe to broadband which will definitely under utilise)

Option 1...get a cheaper version or second hand.
Option 2...borrow in advance from family due to no interest loan.
Option 3....change hobby.
Option 4....save longer period..

Happen that we always read ideas on Money Saving Technique. One of those usually suggest you to buy bulk to save more. Well, I am not against the idea but only on certain products. What do i mean? We are often tempted to try out new products, hence when you buy products in bulk, you ended up either not using it or the products expire due to occasional use.

In another example, in these days where advertisment of new products appear everywhere, a products or a specific brands quickly overtook the previous as redundance at a fraction of price that you buy in bulk.

I think saving money has become somewhat inherent in me because I realised that things that makes me happy are most of the time free. Swimming, cycling, reading, walking by the beach, watch sunrise/set, spending quality time with gf.
In other words if one is easily contented, it'd be easier to save up and most probably won't have any problem.
On the other hand if one needs to spend to be happy, then that's it. He's better be a big earner to substantiate the spending and see if there are any to save.

I totally agree with what you say. From no beginning, and then craving for luxury, comparison, standard. I realize they are all stressful. Everyday, just work, rest and eat make me simple and happy.

Seeking are stressful.

1) Internet is one of the greatest money saving tools. Watch movie, listen to song, watch stream live soccer, read comic,...
2) save money in places that generate higher return, like endowment plan, bonds, preference share.
3) Cook at home :)
4) Learn more about personal finance. There are thousand of books on this subject.
