Since this is a rather huge purchase, I would like to ask the sifus here for help in deciding which monitor to go for. Also wondering if I should order online or go to local stores eg. Challenger, shops in SLS etc.

These are the options i'm looking at:

DELL 3415W
LG 34UC97C
SAMSUNG S34E790C
ACER X34
ASUS PG348Q

GPU: Gigabyte 1070
Usage: Casual gaming (WoW/Overwatch), watching movies, work.
Budget: 1k- 1.5k

Will appreciate any feedback.

U might consider 32" monitor too... 34" aspect not very ideal for some games like fifa... also res for 34" not uhd.

With a GTX1070, an ultrawide (3440x1440) may be a little less demanding to run than UHD (4K), but it depends if you're willing to lower game graphic details. Since you are only doing casual gaming, may not be an issue. I would recommend the X34 because I have one, its G-Sync really helps in keeping games smooth even at 40+ fps and the IPS panel's high resolution/vibrant colours/extra screen estate are real bonuses for productivity work or gaming.

Thanks for input bros.

Seems like x34 is the popular choice here.

Any bros here have that monitor? Can share your experience with it? :D

* bring a dead/hot pixel detection software (with different colour backgrounds) in a thumbdrive to test the monitor at the shop.

* check if it can OC to 100Hz without flickering/screen corruption (you'll need them to connect it up via DisplayPort to test this), Or wait for the X34 which is 100Hz default (no need to OC)

* be realistic in your backlight-bleed expectations (cannot run one, sure will have at the corners for all IPS panels, just varies with intensity). Anyway you can't test at the shop unless they willing to switch off all the lights in their shop :D

* make sure you have a table with enough depth because the X34's stand takes up a lot of desk space

* Go GTX1070 SLI as OpValkryie suggested because you'll need the extra juice to drive games at its native 3440x1440 resolution on this sucker :D

Get the May batch. When i purchased X34, i was given March batch but it has problem with OC-ing to 100hz. So i called by acer and they gave me a new monitor. For mine, it has less BLB and no scan line as compare to the earlier batch, not sure if this applies to all though.

Solid tips bro. But to my knowledge, you have to buy the monitor before they open the box and let you test. Unless you know a place where I could test first before buying

i would recommend X34, but for the new version X34P instead because of
1. Native 100hz
2. more curve

With this 2 issues resolved, i think it's gonna to be even better.
When i was using x34 i literally didnt notice the curve at all such that i have the impression that curve was simply a gimmick. later i realise maybe because the curve was too little in the first place.

Native 100hz would ensure Users dont have to risk having a monitor that's not able to oc to this rate.

I got the March batch, thankfully no issue with 100Hz OC and no dead/hot pixels, although there is backlight bleed at the corners. If you are buying now it'll be the latest batch likely with no issues except BLB. I tested mine at Gamepro at Funan. They let me test before paying. Just call them and say you want to test before purchase and they'll oblige. Of course have to be reasonable in your expectations, esp on BLB. Or wait for the new X34P as suggested above. You won't regret it. Just have to be prepared that its 3440x1440 resolution requires a lot of juice to run games.

ya sia I want one, looks really good for productivity workflow :(

I have to agree. It really shines as a productivity tool, 3 full pages side by side. In fact I'm more wowed by how it enhances productivity workflow more than for its benefits for gaming.
