Hi all, its been a long time since i have updated my thread..lol.. i guess i must be one of the first users to recommend this monitor. Currently my monitor is running about 2.5 years with totally no problem. I never off my screen via the power button located behind as it too much of a hassle, i just have to adjust the power saving on windows... Not sure if its correlated to preventing the monitor from spoiling faster though..
i press the poweroff button almost everyday and for so many years, i have no issues :)

Hi guys, after years of using my Crossover, the Monitor Power on button which had been finicky for quite sometimes, doesn't really work anymore. It used to be me pressing it for 4 to 6 times, clicking left right center just to switch the monitor on, now it takes up to 30+ clicks or it won't switch on at all either... Currently using Monitor Off software to switch the monitor off through PC.

Anyone else having this problem? I opened up the PCB board, the button looks and feels normal. Send a Message to Red Cap as to whether does he send a replacement PCB for it or maybe should I solder on a new Tactile button.. ?

Do you remember when was your purchased date?

How come you need to press the "on/off" switch? I never use the on/off switch at all. When my PC goes to "Sleep" or Shutdown, the monitor will go to "Sleep" too.

I tried googling but can't find anybody that has the problem you got.

Maybe he pressed 5% harder than you and multiply by number of times pressed then over the limit of operation, so spoilt.

so far this monitor quite solid :D

For those of you who are buying 3rd party desktop mount, please take note that if the screws supplied is longer than the original ones supplied.

DO NOT screw all the way in for the bottom right screw hole on the rear vesa mount. See picture.

If you were to screw all the way in, the monitor may not power up. For my case, my monitor couldn't power up at all. So I have to only tighten the screw about 50% because the screw from 3rd party stand is double the length of the original ones.

Bought 2 of this in May 2012. Except one of them has a failed LED Driver in Jan 2014, both are performing well.

If both of them can last till 5yr mark, I would consider very value for $$ already.

So I have 2 shimians from way back, finally got monitor arms for them. But I realised they don't stay up straight, I think it's due to the mounting screws? Not much space to screw in fully, so it's not really balanced.

Is the solution to get shorter screws, or just to screw in as hard as possible (tried)?

Thought of either adding 1 more monitor (different one, cus this one only has DVI link and I'm intending to link up MBP) or replacing these 2. Great monitors though, just that I'm considering 3 27" and want something with ultra thin bezel...

What mounting arm did you get?

I got this.

Quality is good and sturdy.

Did some quick search on this thread but could not find similar topic

Do you know where i might be able to replace the teeny tiny component (red circle) in Sim Lim Tower or elsewhere ? I had recently swapped out the burnt caps (red square) in SLT, but this tiny component looks to be too tiny for the same uncle to swap out :s22:

This board is from 2755AMG by the way. Symptom is whenever i plug in the power adapter, there is no power on monitor and the green light on the adapter goes off. But if i unplug from monitor, the green light on adapter goes back on. I had also same situation on another power adapter (2 of the same model)

Any help is greatly appreciated !

That component is too small. Unless you can find out the model / part number. Then google it.

Meaning the challenge is more to finding out what that component is ? Swapping out is not really a trouble ?

Probably. This type of surface mount soldering I've never do it before. Perhaps you can check for tutorials on YouTube?

I went ahead to SLT again earlier today and after visiting few shops i finally found one (B1-25) that was willing to attempt the swap

The little component is a surface mount ceramic capacitor, there is no coding on it to tell what value but we somewhat agreed that swapping with another similar size one to test. Google/wiki also says same thing for general troubleshooting, however the sizes are in mm so it is quite inaccurate i guess

Anyway, everything work again when i put the board back - leave it to play movie for an hour or so. So far so good

In case someone else might find this useful
