I have a question here, any experience the Wind going into a black screen state? It happen to me once 2 days back, while doing nothing......i was surfing and then suddenly the whole screen when off (black color), but the Wind is still running.

I tried click on the keyboard and my mouse that was attached to it, i could hear the clicking of my right clicks, but nothing seem to get the screen back on. I though it had gone to sleep or something, but apparently it is still function the OS. I tried using different FN+keys function nothing would get it back to life.

So i the end i had to force restart, by pressing the power button. Guess what it happened to me again today, Right now, right before this post, which i also had to restart the Wind using the power button.

Anyone has any ideas what happen?

btw, i am trying to see if i could replicate the black screen of death.........but no luck, it just happen suddenly. Twice liao.

Have you updated the BIOS to v1.05? I experienced this a few times when I was testing out the Wind.

If yours is black, it should be v1.05 already. If it's pink, follow the guide here.

Hi,

What i did was just download the new drivers and then install them, they automatically overite the old drivers. Why i know? becoz i need to key in the wep key for my routers again again installing and restarting my book.

So based on that statement.. can we confirmed that we DONT NEED to REMOVE the OLD driver FIRST, before install the new one as the new one will OVERWRITE the existing ones in the WIND?

Still yet to install the drivers.. maybe tomolo.. :p

You can uninstall the currently installed wireless drivers first if you want to :).

Where can I buy this energy plug?:s12:

Ok... i use this energy plug here to test the power consumption of the Wind PC

image_ecosavers_meter_pm1_200.jpg

On normal surfing usage, the set itself uses 15W of power in all.

Charging a 3 Cell battery is an addition of 15W.

so it means if you put it on power for your downloading 24 hours 30 days at 0.2388 cents per kilo watt it works out to be about 2.60 bucks per month.

24 hrs for 30 days only $2.60 only? Wow thats interested.

What's the point of looking at the cost of energy consumption? That is more relevant for desktops that run 24/7. For laptops, we should be looking at the energy consumption to see how long it can run on a full charge :).
