Thanks Just Me,

MR representatives, any advise/response? I do not wish to sign up for an internet service that doesn't give me access to my office network.

You may want to send us details so we can test it on our end.

I just ended a phone call with Asus.

As of now.

The beta firmware is showing rather promising result and achieving 940Mbps on Macbook Pro and 600-700 + on imac 2009.

Setting it to 80Mhz only will get about 100Mbps wireless on iphone 5S.

However, we are still working with Asus to further enhance the router further not just for MR customer but as a whole for the entire Asus router family.

1. Mac Safari doesn't display progress in percentage.
2. Speed on AC68 is slower on older devices compared to other Asus router. However, it's faster for newer devices.
3. Port forwarding will disconnect the wan for a min or two.
4. Potentially high ram/CPU usage
5. Storing too many logs and slowing the system.

Rest assure, our team is working hard hand in hand with Asus on this. I will also start testing on the AC56 and see if it's facing the same issue as well.

I would recommend trunking the entire house. 200-300+. Used for at least 10-20years.

Sorry I don't understand. Can explain in simpler terms? Meaning run cable through the house? I'm staying in condo btw. Previous owner did extensive reno, if that info helps.

I am not an MR staff, but I'm just going to list it down what I know.

Checklist to maximise your speed limit/average speed
  • Connection type: Wired (direct). There is no Gigabit Wireless as of yet (those pure ones, not the dual-band 160MHz 802.11ac crap that won't work in the very congested 2.4GHz/5GHz band in Singapore)

  • Ethernet Cable: CAT 5e (minimum, Gigabit capable). Recommended to use CAT 6 or 6a, since they are Gigabit certified.

  • Wireless:
Maximum speed of wireless under lowest settings (One channel, one antenna, 400 ns guard interval)
    802.11n - 72mbps (Single 20 MHz channel)
    802.11ac - 433mbps (Single 80 Mhz channel)

Find a channel that is not busy (use a wifi channel scanner, such as WiFi Channel Scanner) and does not overlap with other busy channels (it WILL overlap, try to minimise it). If your home is particularly small and free of obstacles, you may want to use the 5GHz frequency, as it is less congested and your weird non-WiFi wireless appliances (such as phones) won't interfere with the signal.

If ALL of your devices support N or AC only, you may want to change the router to support N-only or AC-only.

If your home is devoid of WiFi signals (ulu place), you may want to double the bandwidth to 40MHz or 160MHz for 2.4GHz or 5GHz respectively.

  • Network card: (the lobang on your PC that the cable connects to): Make sure that it supports Gigabit. Go to Device Manager, under Network adapters, see if there is "Gigabit" or "1000" in the name of the card. If there is no such phrasing/hint, do a Google search on that card's model. If it does not support Gigabit, you may only get up to 100 Mbps.

  • Harddrive: If you are still using mechanical hard drives (those that are noisy when they are busy), do a benchmark test (h2benchw and the likes) to see if your hard drive speed is at least above 125 MB/s (megabytes per second/~1000Mbps). If it is less than 125, your HDD may be a limiting factor, especially for downloads (save to disk). Heck, get a SSD if you are willing to spend.

  • RAM: Good to have more and faster (access speed) RAM. This ensures that your computer does not need to use your hard drive as RAM (pagefile), particularly for games.

  • Other parts of PC: Not really much to say here. Any PC will do, so long as it it 'modern enough' and it's not from the 1990's.

Disclaimer: This is an amateur-ish guide, based on my long (and occasionally bad) experience with networks. I am not liable if anything goes wrong, explodes or something goes wrong with the world, when you use this checklist.

this is good, help u bump!!

@xRenol kindly factory reset your router and test again.
many of us had the same issue.

Thanks and it works!

The download speed still drops by 100Mbps but it is much better than capping at 310Mbps+.

Zeemax, I really like to give any startup a chance, did you tweak anything?

note2/motoG/tab7/oneV>>>>>62/47/13/36 mbps down, hanged at all upz again

whatsapp the same as can message but once picture upload, scrolling around and stop till next successful data connection

In the other word, ANDROID phones still CANNOT..... pek chek

Again, enlighten me.............

Yoohoo!!!

-Desktop upz i5-4570 3.2GHz/Ram4G/Win8.1/1TB... MR speedtest site 900/450 Mbps (Cat6 ont to ac68)
-Not sure was it due to hp network check solve the cannot upload issue or not because it said found two issue (purged dns cache, the other I was slow to catch as it was dynamic when my desktop was showing the problem)
-Or maybe MR side has solved the issue
-android phones , ip4 all speedtest Alright.. all can down/up loads successfully

Public Consultation on the Proposed Amendments to the Copyright Act | Ministry of Law

The government is proposing to block all pirate sites such as piratebay. What are your thoughts? =)

Has there been any hard evidence supporting these few lines, "This adversely affects Singapore’s creative sector and the livelihoods of people working in these industries. It also undermines our reputation as an economy that respects the protection of intellectual property."

Unless they (the public people) are doing some specific research as to whether IP infringment, music or videos, do damage sales, the majority of the public probably can't answer whether it has a negative or positive impact. As far I can see, they can only speculate.

https://sg.news.yahoo.com/7-out-of-...ctive-in-online-piracy--survey-124853227.html

That doesn't mean that piracy is single-handedly burning the music industry or video industry to cinders. I am more than certain that it is a combination of reasons, like I don't know, high costs of living, housing too expensive, youtube with music videos, etc. Usually such commodities are a luxury, something that most people probably can't afford. And if they can't afford it in the first place, sales won't go up either.

I like the idea of introducing more positive things like "comprising (a) public education, (b) the promotion of legitimate digital content services", but I'll be cautious on "(c) the adoption of appropriate regulatory measures."

In any case, I find this the entire thing to be broader than just piracy, this is also internet censorship. From what I know, SG's hand in piracy is better far down the cookie jar.

Putting everything together will be like pages worth of debate, but ultimately I'm sure many youths will probably be unhappy with the internet censorship, if it goes through.

Censorship should be the last resort in my personal opinion. If (a) and (b) doesn't work out, then (c) should be considered.

By the way, if the government wants to implement "public education" ads like this again, I can foresee instant failure, and they can just skip to (c).

PS: Did you know this anti-piracy video pirated a musician's work? The musician sued and got €91000. Such irony.

does having 30m CAT5e cables affect the speed ?

I only used 10m, the rest are all coiled up nicely

Didn't have any issues on old plan, speed hits the usual advertised transfer rate

But with new plan, I'm still stucked on 600up/450up

Nope, 30m of Cat5e cable is still okay.

The 600Mbps download / 450Mbps upload is direct connection to ONT or via router?
