Just finished testing download speed through steam.

Managed 20.1MB/s before hdd cannot tahan the transfer speed.
21.6MB/s for the ssd before the same thing happen.

Done through wireless :D

Edit: Ok, it would seem some process is eating the harddrive trasnfer speed, therefor limiting the transfer rate. Would be identifying the issue and retest.

can someone from MR explain this? i'm okay with waiting from Jan till now to get an answer. Someone called me and confirmed both appointments. I arranged with my family members on those dates. Then, they sent me another email saying something happened, and they have to give me another date. I'm okay, so long as they confirm with me soon as they can.

And now this happens:

1. You're telling me I'm supposed to be waiting till next year to get the 2nd appointment?

2. I certainly did not agreed to your new arrangement and I have to pay you 'regardless of any forward changes of date made to it'. Holy molly you sure have a very high opinion of your 'agreed' terms.

3. My contract with M1 has expired and I'm now paying loads more for my fibre contract with them now. Do you think I will wait a year for you, MyRepublic (ironic word, isn't it?). Just say the word and I'll cancel our 'agreed' terms.

This is getting more and more bizarre. You people should get lessons in better PR.

So you're saying this date is randomly given because it is hard-coded at the back-end? And you expect the public at large to be okay with that?

According to that screenshot, it says the MR appointment is 6th Jan 2015, and that billing will commence on that date "regardless of any forward changes made to the date".

So does that mean you just pledged to only bill that poster on 6th Jan 2015, even if the appointment was brought forward?

You guys are not making any sense anymore, you know. This is bitterly disappointing.

I do apologise on behalf of my fellow compadres at the back end... but I believe it's just someone did not see the date properly....or the developers ate too much kimchi...

At least your address is not somewhere in KERALA like a bug I had before....
drop a note to solomon and he will take it from there....

Honest mistake I think.

It said my area is Non-residential and I'm in residential building, after one month now the MR technical support then ask OpenNet. Why didn't they ask earlier? Already bought my Wifi router to think that MR will proceed to schedule an appointment date. :(

Can 1Gbps use for a home web server?

20MB/s is a very safe speed even for traditional HDD. Should be able to transfer 2x as fast as that. still, that speed is really fast and awesome!

could we also know how is your wireless signal etc?

Hi everyone. Yes, there are a number of customers affected by OpenNet rescheduling issues. Trust me, we're frustrated too.

When someone successfully signs up or upgrades for 1Gbps, MyRepublic must first send the order with the customer address to OpenNet to check for any fibre infrastructure or backend issues.

It is only when these orders are approved by OpenNet that MyRepublic arranges for installation dates with the customer.

What's been happening, however, is that every day, OpenNet informs us of delays for some of our customers’ places, citing insufficient fibre resources and processing errors among other technical issues... DESPITE the fact that they approved AND arranged installation dates prior.

We have voiced our displeasure to OpenNet, and are now working around-the-clock to verify the installation status of each individual customer.

To all affected customers - we promise you that we will inform you of your new installation dates the moment OpenNet gets back to us.

Please PM me regarding the 2015 date.

Please PM me regarding the 2015 date.

Hi wwexian, I've sent you a PM.

The email is wrong and was sent in error. Rest assured that we're not rescheduling anyone to 2015 - there was an error in the backend system, and we've temporarily disabled automatic email notifications till it's fixed.

The actual date of reschedule depends on OpenNet, and is usually a couple of days later, most certainly not one year.

Really sorry about the miscomm.

I'm currently staying in a 3-roomed HDB flat. Floor plan similar to
http://www.teoalida.com/singapore/HDB-1967-1978-3I-corridor-60sqm.png

Router and TP is situated in the living room near the kitchen. I am in bedroom 1 and I get full signal strength as reported by windows 8, and -53dBm as reported by inSSIDer for 5Ghz band.

As for the 2.4Ghz band, I also get full signal strength as reported by windows 8, and -43dBm as reported by inSSIDer.

However it seems I'm the only one here using the 5Ghz band, while the 2.4Ghz side is congested with about 20 over networks with overlapping channels, which may lead to slowdowns/issues with the network.

HDD can manage must higher transfer speeds, SSD even higher. So in this case, ur HDD or SSD is not the bottleneck.

I am not impressed at all with this result, not forgetting this is a newly setup network with very very little users on it.

Result I am getting with my Starhub 300m/300m via wireless
