Pretty sure that's a 'memorized' response because that's what my technician told me as well until I went to tweak stuff on my own, his test yields about 600 down / 250 up he say it's in beta .. and gotta expect some of these :p Very tactful response but got to be lenient to them, just the field engineers.

Story teller. That support staff really do not know what is beta.

MR, I would like to thank all the backend engineers who helped to resolve the no connection issue over the last 2 days.

my 1Gbps is finally up and running!

Markip, Bolter, solomon, and the FE and all other who chipped in, thank you!

Now, the weird thing now is this...

direct from ONT, I can get 700+mbps d/l and 400+ u/l.
once I connect the AC68 router, it becomes 200+ d/l and 400+ u/l

I thought it could be cable issue, so tested all the cables directly from ONT to laptop, and all can get above 700mbps d/l. So cable causing problem is eliminated.

Next, I tested using the old N66U (on merlin firmware), and I got the same results as the AC68.
Reverted it to Asus firmware, and did a factory reset.
Same thing, no improvement.

What could be the cause? Router? if so, both my asus also lemon?

This is international speed so it is very good already. As fast as a rocket. I thinking you are talking about local speed. Local speed should be near 1Gbps.

so my question to u,
how much is 1Gbps in MB/s ?
its 128MB/s

and i think his download is via CDN on MS site, which is cache and located in SG.

Let say, disable Dual USB ports with USB 3.0? I know this affect WIFI, not sure about LAN connection.

can we use cat 5 instead of cat 6 cos previously when renovating never thought of it now all my cables behind the walls are all cat 5.

Why not? There is really no harm trying if your Cat5 cable is properly terminated with 4 pairs, good quality and short in length (as in an our typical apartment).

Or redo the terminations with fresh plugs, better than knocking down walls.
