Hulu Plus is not working on my AppleTV :(

Netflix is OK, but Hulu can't load with a spinning wheel.

Anyone else has the same problem?

Thanks.

Okay, thanks. Will keep you all posted.

As mentioned by bro leongws, there should be 1 black Cat5e cable inside the ASUS router box (if you opt for 1) and 1 purple Cat6 cable provided by MR Field Engineer.

Low Speed

My 1G just got installed. I have also upgraded to ASUS AC68U wireless router. Speedtest on my ipad mini2 shows only download speed of average 85 to 100M and upload speed of 60 to 80M.

Doesn't expect it to hit anywhere near 1G but surely the speed should be at least 200M to 300M minimally?

What's the issue?

The installation guy told me to call a certain number to log my case tomorrow...
He agrees it should be faster. Haiz...

It could be due to your iPad Mini 2 Wi-Fi which is 802.11a/b/g/n and not 802.11ac.

1. Test with direct connection to ONT.

2. Test with wired connection via ASUS RT-AC68U router.

There have been many posts regarding firmware issue that is capping the speed for ASUS RT-AC68U router.

It's even worse with my work laptop. Only 40M download/upload speed...

for the AC68U router, it is supposed to be ac compatible with 802.11802.11a/b/g/n as well. I read the specs carefully before I upgraded it.

I'll test it with wire but the reality is I never use anything on wired. It's always wireless and I am comparing it against my m1 100M broadband. I expect it to be running minimally 2X faster and it's far from it...

Wireless is capped by devices not plans. So even with 10Gbps plan or 100Gbps. The speed will also be capped at what the device is capable of. Only wire can achieve true speed

your limitation is on the iPad itself

Get a PC and wire it up and test again

Tested direct connection on the ONT with my laptop which supports 802.11n standard which I understand maximum speed to be 450M. It now reads 200M plus on upload and download. Latency across wired and wireless between 4ms to 11ms. So IMO still not excellent.

Ipad mini retina/2 supports also up to 802.11n, so again it should be faster even on wireless.

I also rebooted the ASUS router. After reboot my laptop wireless download/upload can hit 100M++.

Again, comparing to my old set up - M1 100M broadband, old wireless huawei router (which was inclusive and I didn't top up another $200++), I am not seeing a great increase in speed of the network and the coverage/performance of the router. Again I never use anything wired previously.

Which firmware version is your ASUS RT-AC68U router?

I think you get us wrong. We asked you to test direct connection to ONT is to check that you are getting the "right" speed from MR to the ONT. Then, test with wired connection via ASUS RT-AC68U router to your laptop (provided the network card can support up to 1Gbps) to see if it is the ASUS router that is capping the speed.

FYI. "Tested direct connection on the ONT with my laptop which supports 802.11n standard which I understand maximum speed to be 450M." 802.11n standard is only applicable for WiFi and not wired connection. You have to go to Device Manager - Network Adapter to check if your laptop network adapter is capable to support 1Gbps.

If possible, test on this.

Hi all,

I just got MyRepublic 1Gbps installed a few days ago and I am facing the same issues with the speed, 300M DLD and 300M UPL speed. Called in the customer service hotline after several attempts, and was told that the issue is due to a firmware issue with the ONT. If your ONT is a small black color box, with the brand Acatel Luscent, you might be facing the same problem as me. The customer service officer promised that the firmware upgrade will be pushed to us from the backend 2 - 3 days from my call, which will be this Friday 11/4/14 latest.

To MyRepublic,

Since you guys already know that one common cause of the speed is due to the ONT firmware issue, I am surprised why this was not mentioned at all in the thread. While there may be other unknown factors, this ONT firmware issue is a glitch from your end which you know but you chose to keep quiet about it until we called in the hotline to enquire. (ps: once I told the customer service officer about the speed problem he straight away told me it might be due to ONT firmware which is a problem faced by many other customers).

And, I have been having very bad experience since the day I signed up the 1Gbps package, promises are never delivered. I have since made numerous feedbacks via email, but there was no proper follow up, you guys just took my NRIC and then radio silence. Can I request that at least the problem with the ONT firmware which is affecting the internet speed be fixed asap? I do not have the time to keep trying to reach your customer service hotline everyday (Waiting till up to half an hour each call, and sometimes after finally got connected to the call, I was put on mute and have to hang up).

That's a typo error. I know the wireless standards. I meant I tested on direct cable connection between the ONT and my laptop and speedtest comes up 200M++ download/upload. I tested on ookla and now on myrepublic speed test. The results are all the same.

I meant that even on wireless 802.11n devices the speed supported by ASUS68 is up to 450M. So I do think I should be getting a better speed with my 1G My Republic broadband even on wireless connection with an upgraded wireless router...

My Asus router firmware was running on 3.0.0.4.374_379 and I've just updated to the latest version. After reading Bryant2012's posting I'm surprised too if firmware is a probable known issue why are we not directed to update firmware or your technical installation should be doing that/checking for us?

Bryan, thanks for this. Looks like I have the same issue as you. So it's the ONT firmware then. I believe we all have the same Alcatel Lucent ONT.

It could be either MR back end or ONT firmware issue then.

If you mean near 1Gbps HomePlug, there isn't any.

They finally installed the 1Gbps internet yesterday (after months of waiting), but the technician told me that MR needs 1-2 days to activate the internet. Until now still cannot access to the internet. This really worries me.

Is this normal? Anyone got the same problem here?

Not really, to get full speed on 1Gbps, homeplugs, or even wifi is not recommended unless you have no choice. You can refer to this section on the Speed Booster Guide: https://secure.myrepublic.com.sg/speed-booster-guide.php#section6

Of course, with a good router and a decent wireless client, wireless is still a viable alternative. Homeplugs however, are dependent on a lot more factors and thus also depends on your luck. Usually while they are advertised at 500Mbps or so, actual real world performance is much lower, unfortunately.

Rhap, you are welcome. It takes alot of time to reach their customer service, and there was nothing mentioned on the thread at all regarding the ONT firmware issue, so I thought it will be good to share this so that we won't need to run around in circles.

MR,

would you care to explain why this possible reason (something that you know from your end that it was a glitch from back end) was not even told to us when you see so many people experiencing the bad internet speed? Please do not forget that we are entitled to the 1Gbps speed since we are paying you the correct price for this speed. We can complain to CASE and IDA if you still do not come out to manage this properly. Please, do something.
