Lol. Keep your fallacy detection to literature class. Even when I was doing A level GP, I never used fallacies as a tool to argue. This is a forum about tech (and this thread, about MR 1Gbps), not a place to show how 'chim' you are by using the most complex literary device, such as fallacies.

Oh, a personal opinion: people who resort to using fallacies are those who ran out of good counter arguments or evidence. Basically, they lost.

On another note, my fiber connection was installed at last and I am going to go home later to test it.

Relax and update us on your speed.

Just got mine installed around noon time.

This is using AC68 which I had just installed.
Download speed was around 50Mbps higher when using N66.

Yes, one can hit around 700+ Mbps with ASUS RT-N66U on wired connection.

Got this in the mail today:

Dear Mr blitzio,

As of today, we have installed over 1,200 customers with MyRepublic 1Gbps. At our field team's busiest time over the weekends, we install about 200 customers a day, and we expect to do so faster and more efficiently in the many days to come.

We're telling you this not as an excuse, but to hopefully give you an understanding into our efforts in getting everyone connected to MyRepublic 1Gbps as soon as possible.

We do value your support.

As such, it is with sincere regret when we say that we are experiencing a delay with the activation of 1Gbps service to your address. While we are currently unable to now say how long the delay will be, our experience is that 80% of delays are resolved within 30-days.

Firstly, we say "your address" because this current resource limitation is highly location specific. The fibre lines, fibre resources and backend infrastructure managed by OpenNet are different for every address.

A number of customers who sign up during the same period as yourself may have no such issues at all.

What's Going On?

We understand there's been some confusion as to what's been causing customers to wait for their MyRepublic 1Gbps. Please allow us to help clear the air.

Before we even start moving forward with a MyRepublic 1Gbps installation, we need to submit our order to OpenNet for their processing and approval.

If OpenNet does not give us the OK to proceed for your address, we - as well as any other Singapore internet service provider - are unable to proceed with your installation.

For some cases, OpenNet will not take our orders if there are backend resource limitations affecting certain addresses. Our order would be rejected as invalid.

What Should I Do Now?

There is no need to update us. Our team is working feverishly with OpenNet to have confirmed your installation date, at the earliest possible date.

We will contact you with an update and to arrange for a new appointment as soon as these backend fibre issues have been resolved.

We understand that our customer hotline is currently experiencing a high volume of calls due to OpenNet-side delays. If you've been trying to get through and are unable to, we apologise.

In our experience, OpenNet technicians do not show up for their appointments as often as 4 times a day, which has resulted in a fair amount of frustrations.

To be fair, years ago in the early days of NBN fibre residential installations the percentage of installation failures due to OpenNet issues relating from the move from DSL/cable to fibre (e.g. fibre-top up, no signal, spring-board) was relatively high. Working together with the NBN companies, over-time these rates of failures on the residential side have been reduced dramatically, to an acceptable level (i.e. less than 3%).

We expect the same to happen with the MyRepublic 1Gbps rollout such that within 6 to 8 weeks, 97% of people who sign up will not experience OpenNet delays.

We humbly ask for your patience and kind understanding.

Sincerely,
The MyRepublic Team

Appreciate the transparency and updates, more of this please.

It's been 2 days since the installation, and yet I still can't access to the internet, at all.

I'm so frustrated about this, really. Someone at MR please help me to sort this out?

Just installed this noon, direct from ONT

I'm supposed to be on 1Gbps. Understood I should be getting at least 900+mbps from ONT direct, plus minus 900 from router.

But it looks like i'm only about half the given speed.
Called technical helpdesk and they will escalate to their engineering dept to investigate and get back to me

Observed OpenNet procedures were not clearly defined. For awareness, refer to the actual ICO Agreement at - ICO Agreement | OpenNet, specifically the following clauses in Schedule 1 on installation procedures:

Very detailed contract with terms, conditions, SLA. Got time can read and compare for the full picture.

That was a rhetorical statement bore out by MR past history of avoiding questions or responding with vague statements, don't take my word, just look at all the old posts of aggravation and pain suffered. Using fanciful allegory is not going to wipe all that away.

Now that you are more focused and attentive, can you respond to my last question on the backend, another vague term being thrown around.

Also, was there any response to this?:

aiyo, why am I quoted.
my issue was actually resolved when i posted that question. just curious to know if it was caused by either point

But you may want to take a look at smallnetbuilder on the review for N66U to match your expectation.

Wired - 700+ Mbps
Wireless at 2.4 Ghz - 80~100+ Mbps / 60~140+ Mbps
Wireless at 5 Ghz - 50~80+ Mbps / 60~140+ Mbps

i can get 900+ on wired with 66U

Relax and update us on your speed.

I'm not angry, just frustrated at people who go off topic to talk about how people construct arguments.

I have done my speed test, not the 900+ mbps that people are getting, but since there was a fiber break at the FDP, I guess it might be due to the bad wiring there. :O

I can't seem to be able to connect directly to ONT, my NIC is always trying to get the IP address (a.ka. Identifying.... forever).

hi MR..,

I signed up for your 1Gbps fibre during the previous IT show on 2nd march and was told by your CSO there that i would receive a call very soon. Given your high call volume, i understand and i waited.

But it has been more than a month now...spoken twice to your hotline ladies, told me they would escalate this...but nothing leh..

I still waiting for your side to confirm my installation before i go ahead to cancel my contract with Starhub for the buy back promo.....please don't let me feel that i have made the wrong choice by switching ISP.. :(

Sorry if my quote of your question caused you any distress. Was just keen to know if they had shed any light on your question of whether the android upload issue, MTU, port issues are connected.

Think you may have misunderstood the exchange, I didn't go off-topic, it was the other party who jumped in, took it personal and attempted to derail the discussion at that time.

Don't think I'm that capable, certainly not to the level of reaching national newspaper notoriety, the credit is all theirs, unfortunately. But things should improve with their ongoing remedial action.
