Hi, my singnet contract is ending in end of october and i am interested to sign with myrepublic however can i know why is the service actv price so high as compared to other ISP such as starhub?

Can i also know what is the upcoming event on 31st oct as i'm unable to find any IT show on 31st oct from google?
Will there be chances for the actv charge to be waived during the IT fair promo?

Actually, red and orange activation fee add here add there become 130++. they all just hide their cost, must call to find out. very sneaky... found out the hard way. purple state big big so very obvious, but better than hiding i feel.

I'm having terrible lags for twitch.
70dl 70ul on speedtest.net sg servers using wireless. I'm on a gamer plan.

Can't even watch any streams at all. Even low quality stutters.
Always had a problem with twitch but I'm able to watch on High most of the time.
Now I can't even watch any streams on low.
FYI: This issue happened around a few days ago.

PS: I cant watch source quality (720/1080p+) at all. Not sure whether it's because of wireless but I don't wanna doubt MyRepublic. Will change to 5G wireless later today and I'll update here again.

Do try 5G and wired. 70Dl on 2.4ghz is near it's max limit and impossible on older device.

I notice that My Republic has a Free Teleport Subscription, which is free until 31 December 2013.
Does that mean it is free forever if you sign up before 31 December, or that the channels are free up to 31 December and after that you have to subscribe.

Finally, how to transfer these Teleport channels from Laptop to Smart TV???

Most likely the one he mention is just one of those random shows.

I use MyRepublic 150 Gamer (and StarHub 300 - interchangeably) and have no problems with MyRepublic. That said, 150 Gamer's routing is different. But 100 mbps should be more than enough to stream from Netflix etc.

The teleport service is free till Dec 31 after which MyRepublic may start charging for the service; however, as this is really their only differentiator, I very much doubt that they'll charge. They can establish a virtual price point ("Teleport service worth $x.yz per month") and then waive it to show value, but I doubt they'll actually charge.

You need to understand, though, that these are not "channels" and you will still need to PAY to SUBSCRIBE to services like Hulu Plus, Netflix, etc, at their prevailing subscription rates (currently US$ 7.99 pm). Teleport only provides you ACCESS to these sites - Hulu, Netflix, etc, are meant for US customers only and Teleport makes these services "think" that you're in the US. That's all it does. Without Teleport, if you wanted to access Hulu, CBS, ABC, NBC, Netflix, etc, you would need a VPN service (usually paid for and usually US$ 4 - US$ 10 per month) to route your connection. Alternatively, you could use a Teleport-like service like unblock-us (which does what Teleport does for subscribers of other ISPs).

Finally, how to transfer these Teleport channels from Laptop to Smart TV???

Many options:
1. use an Apple TV - in which case the Apple TV will access these "channels"
2. connect your laptop to your TV through an HDMI cable
3. use some other device that Teleport supports (e.g. iPad connected via HDMI or iPad with AirPlay to the TV).

More very good info and easy to understand.

Because I spend some time in UK I want to use BBC iPlayer.

I used to access it through ExPat Shield but that doesn't appear to work now so a direct connection through Teleport will suit me fine.

I'm not so sure. At the last show, MR hiked their price by around $20-odd pm and then gave "x months free". No effective difference over a 2 year period.

Yeap overall is not much difference but IMHO consumers like to see lower monthly numbers even though actual price difference on average is not much

Today, when I came back home from work, I found out that my family did not have internet connectivity for the whole time while I was working.

Tried rebooting my router and ONT but it didn't work.

Removed my static IP configuration, switch back to Dynamic IP configuration and my internet connectivity came back on.

Re-configure my router with static IP again and my internet connectivity went dead again...

I was using the same static IP config, untouched, for few months without any issues. I'm very sure the problem lies with the static IP and MR.

Can a representative from MR please look into the issue? Thanks.
