Breaks in internet connection

After many times of interruptions to the internet connection, I decided to make a switch. The last straw was when my poor son had to redo his school online work because of the break. Not switch ISP, just a switch of my router. Got me the Netgear Nighthawk R7000 1900AC. So far no issus after about 4 hours. Usually I would get at least once in 10 to 15 minutes! Keeping my fingers crossed...

I've been having random disconnections, before an hour of this post, I've already disconnected 4 times. Anyone else facing this issue? I've had a technician come down and replace my router recently and it's still happening. The connections always cuts off and then restores after a few seconds but its really frustrating especially when I'm gaming. Currently using an Asus n15u.

Just curious, your old router is an Asus one? which model/firmware?
Also, your R7000 is running with the stock Netgear firmware, not DD-WRT, right?

Can share what was in the router logs that prompted the change in LAN cable?

My M1 fibre contract is ending soon.

Considering my options...for MyRepublic, is there option to pay bills via credit card online?

M1 and Starhub online portals offer that option.

Thanks

winterrealm & wc1985:

thanks.

Is Myrepublic still doing that strange NAT/private IP thingy?

I vaguely remember that there was a promo for free static IP sometime back to limited customers as an alternative to this.

is there any chance that MR can let us pay the MSF like AXS or something? i mean, aside from the autodeduction..

Look at the number of complaints of failed installation, billing issues and unresolve matters in the 2 MR thread and make your decisions bah.

This is i super UP. no paper bill but email bill. who the heck got so free to open personal email everyday to keep track all this. i would really suggest MR could let us choose to receive paper bill so we could keep track and make prompt payment via AXS or SAM.

Auto deduction by choice of payment, u can retrieve the bill statement from the portal.

Are you sure everyone can pay the bill promptly if given the paper bill?
Save the environment dude, which also lowering down the operation cost thus giving you better bandwidth at better price.

Not sure if paper is important to you or the price you paying for the service. :s22:

Isn't it the other way round?

Everyone that have subscribed to internet service will read email when they are online. but not everyone will cut open a letter everyday. MR website has the our account payment info listed for the pass year, you mean this is a lot more difficult than looking thru a pile of letter to check if you had made the payment?

I can't even recall the last time I visited the post office for the purpose of paying bill. I can't understand why someone would rather spend ~1/2 an hour standing in the queue to pay bill, this is not including the time spend going to the post office.

I thought we live in 2014, not 1994...

for me, the more payment option, the better. kinda like NTUC, it's autodeduction but in case thebdeduction failed, you have the option to login to their website and make the payment directly.

For MR's case, if the deduction fails, it will try again for the next few days or you have to call them for the Billing dept to make the deduction.

My personal email is very important to me, much more important than my work email. I open everyday, more than once.
