In reality, it is not always the case that the consumers will benefit the most. However, MR staff mentioned that they will still charge at the previous contract price instead of the usual price while waiting for the 1Gbps installation but I think one has to call in to double confirm.

Previous contract price is 50++ .They give you 5 free mths to offset this and trap you to complete the contract on last few mths .

Hard for existing customers to switch to 1Gbps without forfeiting their free mths prematurely not that they are 100% able to install within the last mths even if you are willing to forfeit .

Everything is so disadvantaged to existing customers .

Some MR customers mentioned that they just indicated to MR staff to install after the contact ends.

Either one risks to forfeit his/her remaining free months or wait a couple of months after his/her contract for installation.

I believe some people said before that shifting from the backend infrastructure from NC to MR is a hassle and very troublesome because a third party, OpenNet is involved during the transition period e.g. PURE, PUREHD, GAMER plans to Ultra or Gamer Ultra plans.

Not to mention that OpenNet is still involved when one jumps ship.

Satisfaction level is always very subjective because everyone has different expectation. Therefore, there is no one ISP/RSP that can fit all needs.

some pple cannot swallow the fact that opennet is still involved.
and they flare when MR mentions opennet during the delays, they think that MR is just pushing responsibilities.

i went over VQ's thread and did a casual browse.
there are issues concerning opennet and delays too

on a side note.
damn! the weather is really hot!

So far I don't have any problems with MR regarding customer service.

Like what others have said. OpenNet is primarily involved in your signal, wiring and termination point issues.

Any delays or cock-up could be caused by OpenNet side and not the service providers like MR etc etc. So certain things are beyond their control.

And do you guys realized that all the fibre broadband providers are using the same termination point? and that termination point belongs to OpenNet?

Why would that be a trap? There is no entrapment involved because once you sign a contract you gotta go with it if not risk penalty, 5 free months or not. The only valid possibility is that they wanted customers to sign longer term contract instead of going for non-contract (back then when its available), which is common practice for any sort of subscription based services.

It sounds like a hobson's choice but in reality its a gamble whether to forfeit the free months or not. Personally I chose not to because I think free months is better than an extra 900Mbps for the time being (and possibly for the near future) for me. So if you don't immediately need that extra speed like me there is actually no harm to wait. Bonus: the more you wait the higher chances that the network will be more stable when you cross over.

Use their live chat incase cannot call through:D

Thanks for advice. Use their live chat, the support staff asked me to forward email to him instead. I insisted an acknowledgement over email. Received reply from MR, was informed someone will contact me to arrange to collect back the ONT.

FYI, lawzer is still in MR but probably more on the products.

I also did not have much problems with MR's customer service. Normally, I received reply through email like the next working day. As usual, I cannot speak for the others.

Technically speaking is the activation of Port 2 is by OpenNet not MR.
