MyRepublic fibre - Part 4

saw that MyRepublic still has the free 2 months trial... anybody keen to share their experience in this? I'm currently sourcing, dunno which telco to go for..

I signed up for the 2mo trial, the tech came today and plugged in the Alcatel Lucent device and he said signal was quite good.

I 'move in' only on 2nd March, so I'll give some feedback then

I'm currently on M1 where I'm staying temporarily (200mbit).

Hi guys, does anyone know if my contract ended and I want to cancel, must I pay for the whole month or will they charge me pro-rated until the termination date?

Are you already using fibre internet? If yes, gg. No matter what ISP u change to, you will get problems.

NLT only wires up 1st port of the TP. 2nd port is not connected. That's the cause of delays.

If you're a first time fibre user, good news. Can have internet up within 1 week. Fibre is always better than cable broadband.

I think MyRepublic got refer-a-friend promo, stacks with other promos.

Yes...i'm a first time fibre user... currently dunno which one to choose... MyRepublic 2 mths free or Singtel Unlimited Promo @ $50 (ending 28 feb)... I am also considering M1, but M1 homepage is under maintenance now....I'm just a average internet user...

If your priority is stability > price, you can take a look at ViewQwest. Otherwise, you can consider the Big 3 telco for the bundle discounts with mobile and/or Cable TV.

Previously, there are many people who feedback about the non-existence customer service from MR. Not sure about now. If you are considering MR, remember to research more before you jump in.

I experienced few minutes of no connection on all my devices. but now it seems to be working now.

If you have the habit of switching on the ONT and router at the same time, this happens once in a while.. rebooting the router will help

Hi, im experiencing same problem. Signed up for the 1gbps gamer plan just recently.

Did a test speedtest.net

Connecting directly to router only has <170mbps
Connecting directly to the ONT only 130mbps

any idea why?

after testing lots of things.
1: my router using merlin firmware causing the download limit to 250mbps. (restore to stock firmware without restore any profile setting, boost speed to 350mbps)

2: my network adapter might be breaking down limit me to 350mbps. (Change to a pci-e x1 card boost to 800mbps.)

3: technician came to check, ONT having problem, keep d/c. (Change ONT, but speed stuck 800mbps.)

4: now waiting for MR to fix from their server side according to the tech.

They just installed it on Monday and has been facing the problem ever since.

Is there a possibility for it to be the problem of the ethernet port on the wall, cause my pc is in my room, previously find contractor to pull wire from living room to my room.

for better speed, go WIRED. Cat5 or Cat6 cables etc.

Erm, how do i restore to stock firmware?

go to asus website, download the official f/w

flash it over merlin, that should do the trick

and remember, its best to reset router to default set it up again

Are you able to test with another Ethernet cable or computer?

for better speed, go WIRED. Cat5 or Cat6 cables etc.

One should at least go for Cat5e. Cat5 can only handle 100 Mbps.

I think it'd be hard to even FIND Cat5 nowadays, Cat5e has been sold since years now...most people also just say 5 and not 5e, maybe he means 5e

Yes tested with another ethernet cable and with laptop but get the same results
