i rarely use youtube on singtel prepaid, but on myrepublic I have been using youtube app to stream. quality is just 240p though.

As for slow web browsing, i use opera with data saver on so everything loads fast within 5 seconds despite 50kbps throttled speeds

Other than the throttled speeds which is quite slow.
MyRepublic do NOT support MMS and direct video-calling.

Pardon my ignorance, what's "direct video calling"? Something like Facetime for iphones? I'm considering switching my sub-line to take advantage of the $8 uno plan. Any news when it is ending?

What i mean for direct video calling is video calling your other party using phone numbers. Remember the time when video call was launched on 3g, we dial the number, then press video.

Direct video call, is different from facetime or whatsapp video call. Direct video call does not use any data at all. Whereas you need data or wifi to facetime.

The UNO plan does not have specific end date.

Yeah. I questioned them before. They say they won't have mms and direct video call support. Feedback to them liao, but I think highly unlikely they will implement this.

Cos not alot people are using direct video call.

Almost nobody use 3G Video calls, even back in the days.

But MMS omission is terrible. Once in a while I do use MMS, since my M1 plan comes with it and idw to use WhatsApp/Telegram etc to send images.

This is especially true for communication with strangers, for example Carousell.

Yeah. Not alot people are using carrier video calls, but sometimes they are good (for m1 users), cos it's priced the same as voice calls and under the free minutes.

Many smartphones don't have the feature anymore, because many operators in the world implemented it just to see it fail.

Now Video over LTE (ViLTE) is implemented on some carriers worldwide alongside Voice over LTE (VoLTE), but it uses the data in your data plan too (much makes it useless). Also a failure like its 3G counterpart.

Afterall, people still relies on either Video calls over IP or just plain old voice calls over cellular & IP more.

VoLTE adoption rate is much higher than ViLTE in the end.

I tried signing up with MyRepublic and it prompts me to pay additional one-time deposit. Anyone had this issue also? Called MyRepublic and they told me they can’t do anything as it is triggered by the system.
