Ported from sinktel to myrepublic mobile Smart 35 plan for $35 per month, inclusive of GST. There were no additional sign-up nor porting-in charges.
Day x: myrepublic SIM delivered to my address. The SIM can be used immediately, with a temporary "placeholder" number 8754xxxx.
Day x+1: e-mail received around midday notifying creation of myrepublic account containing your password so that you can login and manage your myrepublic account. SMS sent also around midday regarding porting to both sinktel SIM and myrepublic SIM. Says porting will take 1-2 business days.
Day x+2 morning: Porting complete, earlier than I had expected. Old sinktel SIM card has "no service". myrepublic SIM card has the old sinktel number. Job done.
Day x+2 evening: SMS received welcoming me to myrepublic mobile confirming that porting was completed at 01:01 in the morning.
Very smooth experience. I also have not had any issues with receiving calls via mobile, office landline, nor starhub digital voice.
Very happy so far with the service. Reception has been on par with sinktel for me as I do not live nor work in remote areas. Loving the free incoming calls and free incoming SMS, free caller ID, and generous data / voice / SMS allowance. That's 9GB data / 1,000 outgoing local minutes / 1,000 outgoing local SMS.
Mobile app is acceptable; occasional issues requiring a re-login, but also could be due to the porting process and change of number. So far it's generally working well.
I believe that myrepublic has one of the best value no-contract plans there are currently.
Please ensure that you read the myrepublic mobile FAQ before signing up so that you are clear on what the service provides.
Hope this is helpful for those thinking of switching to myrepublic.
Few things to note:
(1) You will need to manually set your APN to "myrepublic" in order to get mobile data. Read the FAQ, please.
(2) You will need to login to your myrepublic account under "Manage Roaming" to enable "Data, Voice & SMS Roaming", or "Voice & SMS Roaming", if you intend to use your SIM card outside of sg. The default setting is "Roaming Off".
(3) Voicemail is enabled by default, which I find annoying. Dial 1334 and follow the prompts to disable voicemail. Probably a good idea to change your voicemail PIN too.
