Is the Uno $8 plan still available for new sign up? If not, is $35 the cheapest plan now? Planning to sign up for my mum..

No more Uno plans.

So far the Smart35 plan is still the best no-contract plan at its price point. 9GB data 1000 outgoing minutes 1000 outgoing texts, incoming calls and texts free, plus free caller ID.

For those ai hiam buey pai, they are not bad. I found out that, that surfing and latency speed for MyRepublic is much slower than my main M1 line. I'm quite used to low latency in M1, but My Republic latency just make me no patience.

I feel the same way after switching form M1 to zero1 (Singtel) under SingTel my phone feels slower when doing web browsing etc.

Haha. Cos i guess, MVNO has its limits.
But recently M1 was awarded the best Telco in low latency. Quite true, websites loaded fast.

Was with M1 and with a VPN back to my home internet, ping is around 20ms. Now with zero1 it's about 30-40ms.

Still not to bad. Only "feels" slower on zero1.

Haha. I got 2 SIM card on my phone. MR feels much slower. If I want faster speed, I switch data to M1. When i exceed the MR limit, that's even painfully slow.

Anyone knows if I get 500mb roaming 30 days plan, will it allow me to use more than 500mb or will auto cut off once all used up?

If I am on 1GB Uno plan $8/mth with add-on recurring 8GB $30/mth my total monthly subscription will be $38/mth for 9GB. Quick question, am I better off switching over to Smart 35 $35/mth for 9GB ?

Am I missing out something?

With $35/mth and only 9GB, why not port over to the Big Three instead? StarHub $25 13GB is the no contract alternative, or SingTel 15GB $25.35 (no contract, including Caller ID) too.

StarHub can add another 10GB for $10 more too, effectively getting 23GB for the same price as MR 9GB + boundless data

I'm also on UNO plan, I have no plans to switch to the $35/mth plan. I would rather switch to either M1 or Starhub new sim only plans, they offer better data allowances, better connectivity too.

Means you are paying $3 per month to retain the option to go back to the not-available-anymore Uno plan. Once you switch over to Smart $35 plan, you can't go back to Uno anymore.

Ask yourself whether you will need the recurring add-on in future or is it just for a few months now.

Yes you are right, but what is keeping me is the 1000mins talk time which I use quite often

I realise M1 still charge for registration & sim fees unless NEW sign up. But I am looking to port over.

Ya Data Passport is additional VAS, payable when you want to activate it.

I write it there to remind that not the whole 15GB bundle is usable for Data Passport, in case people never read T&C and call in to complain.

New sign up refers to both new number and porting in from other carriers. The waiver is not valid for recontracting customers.

Myrepublic does not seem to respond to the competition. Other MNO and MVNO has responded to latest promos. There they are still stuck in $35/mth for 8GB. Only good thing is that they provide 1k sms and 1k mins.
