I did try to manually hook on to a network. My list of networks only show MY CELCOM, MY CELCOM 3G and DiGi separately. I didn't see the ones you've shown though.
I had problems with roaming too.
When i entered the causeway, i made sure roaming was turned on in the app and data roaming was turned on, on the phone. Network was connected to MY Celcom but no data. Signal indicator was full, with an R (indicating Roaming). So I was frustrated and luckily i managed to get wifi from a cafe while eating breakfast. Connected to the support, who subsequently requested me to provide screenshots of the available networks on my phone, data roaming option turned on, app roaming option turned on, asked me to connect to another network then connect again to MY Celcom network. Then i had to move off from that cafe so i said i need to go, and he told me to reset network config and restart phone. I tried this also but couldnt get the roaming to work.
So i found another wifi connection and connected to another support. This time, the support made me do some simple troubleshooting and then said they will escalate to the relevant team. I said okay fine but i have another account of my family member also having same problem. They said, I cannot raise the concern on their behalf. Each account holder had to chat with support manually. I said okay.
On that same day, while eating lunch, i was talking to another support for the other account and they made me go through the troubleshooting process again despite me telling them that i had gone through the process. In the end, they said they will escalate to the relevant team. I said okay, fine.
Next day, the support for my account emailed me back and said,
"Thank you for reaching out.
Upon confirming from our relevant team our system detects usage on your free roaming on XX day".
I was like huh? I didnt use any roaming, and checked the usage on the app. I used 0.01 GB. How? I didnt connect to any app, so how was 10 MB used? Also, if i used it, it would definitely be more than 10 MB since all apps are data hungry nowadays. Then they followed up with, are you still in Malaysia? I said no, then they said, contact us again while in Malaysia.
Do you expect travellers to spend their holiday hunting for random cafés with WiFi just to troubleshoot your broken roaming service?
