Yes. It only leverages on wifi technology for digital voice.

Voice over Wi-Fi (VoWi-Fi) refers to the use of IEEE 802.11 wireless LANs (WLANs) to transport Voice over IP (VoIP) traffic. The technology has consumer, business and service provider applications. It is used over private WLANs, home Wi-Fi networks and public Wi-Fi hotspots.

Mobile network operators are looking to VoWi-Fi to expand network capacity, extend service reach, improve indoor coverage and avoid costly spectrum acquisitions and radio access network (RAN) build-outs. At the same time, many fixed-line service providers and cable multiple-system operators (MSOs) are introducing public hotspots and VoWi-Fi services to compete with MNOs and over-the-top (OTT) service providers.

(1) Download the MR Talk App.
(2) Registered my MR line on the app.
(3) Switch off the MR line and tap on my Wifi
(4) Call my other lines and get crystal clear digital voice

I sign up with MR on Monday 4 May. I collected the SIM from MR shop. My current line is with Singtel. The porting is still not done till today. Anyone can share normally how many days it takes to port over from another telco

Until 3rd June 2020. Sign up, activate, use and wait for my current contract to end in Oct. Port over number in Oct.

I sign up with MR on Monday 4 May. I collected the SIM from MR shop. My current line is with Singtel. The porting is still not done till today. Anyone can share normally how many days it takes to port over from another telco

They advise the 3 days to fully port over. However, normally porting takes place during midnight, it will take a few hours and there will be a few hours of downtime (for your old number).

After a few hours, or wake up tomorrow morning, your temporary number would be changed to your ported number

TAKE NOTE: Calls made using MR Talk app will be chargeable on local rates. It will be EXCLUDED from the free bundled minutes. Previously, the MR CSO told me before. I've tried once last month and was charged a few cents for local calls. So just take note, use only when calling overseas or calling from overseas.

Perhaps those who kena the $100 deposit could try directly head down to their shop to sign up? Manual intervention by their staff could be possible

MR delivered the sim to me about 1 week after I signed up. Porting completed mid night of that same day ... Previously was with Giga (Starhub).

Can I check what is displaying on your network info after porting from giga. I ported my mum line over and sometimes it shows SGP-M1 and sometimes shows MyRepublic? Otherwise, mine is already successfully ported over

MR new sim card are on M1 network.

By right it should just show MyRepublic but some phone might only show SGP-M1.

Yeah I know it's on M1 network, my other line on another phone is displayed as MyRepublic.
Probably as what you said, some phone display it as SGP-M1

Wa thanks for sharing this info. I have deleted the app already, since I don’t need this app to call overseas.

Also, you will need internet connection (data or WiFi) while overseas to use MyRepublic Talk app.
