hmm. Then probably cannot liao. Probably, they have some strict policies in place. Not sure how the credit report works, might be also because of the banks, the cards and the investments? I'm not sure, just guessing.

The banks are governed under the Banking Secrecy Act so it is not linked to the banks definitely.

Telco might look at a few factors:

(1) Telco History, the longer the better and more reliable

(2) Telco bills amount. If it is $10/month for only 6-12 months might not be good. If it is $30-80 per month consistently for 24 months or more, better than the earlier one. If $500/month, you may be considered very high risk

(3) Defaulted bills, whether they are paid down, stays the same or keep increasing.

Never late in payment.
Only has 1 mobile Line TPG

thinking of 2nd line in MR ... got this when trying to subscribe online.... :s22:

Is your TPG paid or free trial? Previously what line you used before TPG? Telco deposit doesn't look at your current lines only, they looked at what you had or not had previously.

I think the above may work if telcos are sharing that information in the very first place. The closest now maybe M1 is sharing some information with MR so their system is making a decision based on it.

Long long time ago, a telco system was able to pick up bankruptcy status based on IC number. So that telco will reject the application if a potential customer is a bankrupt.

I am currently on legacy uno18 plan. Saw there is a lite $10 plan. But can't seem to be able to downgrade on the app. Is it not possible to downgrade with existing line? Anyone knows?

MR mentioned that those on old UNO or UNO18 plan cannot switch. This is due to technical complications. Old plans uses Starhub, new plans uses M1.

They are still working on a workaround and hopefully announce something for UNO customers soon.

MR said long time ago they have something in plan for old customers but went silent now. Actually there is no workaround without changing sim card. Its really as simple as mailing out new M1 sim card to old customers. My guess is MR wants old customers to stay on SH network all the way until MR-SH contract expires. If anyone prefers the new MR-M1 plans, no need to wait for MR, just sign up MR-M1 plan by porting out your MR-SH number

That is what MR advised me, there is a contract need to be done between Starhub-MyRepublic-M1. Starhub cannot just release it's customers to M1 without "customers agreement to porting", in this case is MyRepublic and it's customers. An agreement with M1 has to be made.

Port from Starhub to M1 needs $$$

It is all about money that MR doesn't want to incur and the third party company wants to charge.

The fastest way is to port out to TPG by collecting it physically, use up all data and port back to MR.

Do what you need to do before 3 June hits.

Yeah. Want to know this too.
There is no fixed $100 deposit fee.
It all depends on the person's credit rating.

Someone I know was also asked to pay $100 deposit to sign up with MR. I know this person has defaulted on phone bills with the big 3 telcos before and can no longer sign up with the big 3, and so this person has been using prepaid before the MNVOs came along.

Since no contract they can up monthly price anytime.

You mean that they are credit rating for mobile companies which is similar to what MAS is maintaining across any financial facilities such as bank credit cards, loans etc.?

You mean they share the payment history from one telco to other telcos?

Nope, it won't go up. Of cause they might change, but it has never happened before. It they change they will lose lots of customers.
I'm on UNO $8 plan, it has been for $8 /mth for 2 years since. Don't worry so much, unlike so MVNO who says $18/mth for 12mths and $28/mth after 12mths.
